Bloodstone and grim were very close friends since puphood. He was the first one grim told about the underground market. Where you can get never before seen trinkets, weird things that change your body, and other strange and curious items. Omen was displeased that grim had so freely told his friend about such a secret place, but Bloodstone was much more than just a friend, he was a wolf Grim would never hold secrets from. Grim gave him a dragon egg as a gift. They never expected it to hatch, it was just a cool souvenir he picked up at a small shop there. Yet to their surprise, it did just that.
He named the hatchling Rift and made sure to keep him a secret from the pack. But, as he soon learned, you can't keep a dragon a secret for very long. It wasn't long before the whole pack knew, and while there was much protesting about keeping the hatchling, it was Grims constant persuading that won aster over.
Bloodstone made the voluntary choice to sleep in his own stone cave away from the other dens. He knew the other wolves feared Rift, and this would help put them at ease. Plus he didn't want a potential issue with him accidentally setting the other wood based dens ablaze, as him being able to stay was a huge stroke of luck he didn't want to test.
Even after years of Rift living with the pack, the older ones never fully accepted him there, and had even started avoiding Bloodstone for the most part. But the younger generations were getting more and more accustom to him, the pups nowadays no longer afraid to approach the drake and some even trying to play with him. The other young adults gave Bloodstone the nickname 'Dragon Keeper' which he accepted amusingly. The two shared a very close bond. They even seem to be able to communicate without talking, but whether this was the result of his mind being altered due to the magical properties of the dragon, or whether their bond was just incredibly close, nobody knows yet.
