he might not hear you if you talk to him, he's not deaf or anything crazy like that, he's just in his mind half the time, remembering how to make ear mite ointment or where to find yarrow, or how the hell the pups got on the puppy cave that one time. Either that or wondering if he would ever have a pup or 2 of his own with Nighthawk or wondering if water is wet, or what is the speed of dark or if water is wet.

He's had a crush on Nighthawk since she entered the pack, though he never told her. He finally told Nighthawk just before they turned 5 years old. Though they didn't get into an actual relationship until 6 months later.
