Biography
Pronounced (purr-ALL-ee)
The fourth leader of the Silver Falcon pack. Pup of the hunter Silera and the scout Sorali. Pair bonded with the scout Aurade. They had one pup, Kadali.
Humble and respectful, genuine. He had a certain charisma to him that made him a natural leader. In addition, he was an honest wolf who many came to for advice. On top of that, he was very strong and possessed surprising intelligence.
Perali was the great-great-grandpup of the pack's founders, Neali and Recali (by adoption, of course, since the founders only had adopted children). However, in the time that passed since the founders, he was one of only two of their descendants to lead the pack, because the role of leader isn't an inherited one. Perali's great-grandmother was a hunter and both his grandfather and father were scouts. In fact, it was anticipated that Perali, too, would be a scout. However, his leadership potential was discovered early on.
As with every leader, when Boey saw Perali for the first time, he got a sort of tingly feeling that was different from his usual aches and pains. He knew that this pup, though very young, was going to be the next leader. And as such, Boey took Perali under his wing and began mentoring him and sharing all of the knowledge he possibly could.
When Boey brought Aurade to the Silver Falcon Pack, he asked Perali to show her around. As Perali explained and introduced, Aurade told stories of her time in the Dreamlands, and the two quickly became friends. Aurade gave Perali one of the necklaces she got in the Dreamlands as a show of friendship. Later, as the two hung out more and more, the friendship grew into something more.
It had been a year since Perali began leading the pack, and he already became quite the fine young leader. At the time, he was shaping up to be the pack's best combatant; at the very least, he was the most eager one. He earned a reputation for battling - potential opponents knew that once he latched onto them, its over. However, Perali got a little embarrassed whenever others bring this up - he didn't like to brag. While he was an excellent fighter, he wasn't the wisest, and as such, he tended to rely on the counsel of others.
At three years old, Perali was without a doubt the most powerful wolf the Silver Falcon Pack had ever seen. His partner, Aurade, was slightly stronger than him, but he surpassed her in almost every other area. His impressive reputation had struck fear into the hearts of other packs, and that fear had turned into hate.
One terrible night, the hate boiled over. The Silver Falcon Pack was attacked by a joint force of two other packs, and though the Silver Falcon Pack's hunters, led by Perali, were able to drive them out, the pupsitters and pups had suffered, as barely half remained. This day was known as the Massacre of the Nest (the Nest being the dens where the pupsitters and pups resided).
Wanting for such a horrible event to never happen again, Perali reasoned (and the council of elders agreed) that the pack could not show too much weakness, as the pack's weakest were the target of the attack. And observing those that had survived and those that had fallen, it was plain to see that the surivors were the strong, and the fallen could not defend themselves. He would have to train the pupsitters to do so. But some of the pack's wolves could never had fought back...
Perhaps it would be a kinder fate for mother nature to take such weak ones rather than have the vicious fangs of wolves tear them to shreds. Then when the pups die to the cold or to the river or to whatever else could be found, they would die in peace without knowing the cruelty of sharp claws and fangs. Without knowing the real malice in such an attacker's heart. And if a pup were to survive the trials of nature, then they would have discovered their true strength, and would be welcomed into the pack.
The Silver Falcon Pack had been kind. Too kind for their own good, pondered Perali.
After a year had passed with the rule in place, the pack seemed to have adjusted. Weak pups were not especially common so the task of bringing them out of the pack was an infrequent one, usually given to a scout or the herbalist, whoever was not busy. But as time went on, Perali reasoned that there should be a designated wolf for the role. Ideally, a wolf who was familiar with the land and that would not get attached to the pups. Perali found Lagia, a scout and soon-to-be stud of the pack, to be a good fit. Lagia agreed, and became the pack's first Bringer.
