River

River has been offered the luxuries of retirement, but has refused in favour of continuing her exploring efforts. (18/12/20)

The recent excitement caused by the fire (and fleeing from it) has River feeling her age more than before. She's developed a cough that just won't go away, and is starting to consider retiring as Head Scout herself so she can rest in her old age. (27/11/20)

Perhaps the best response to your first litter's questions about who their father is might not be to go and have another litter with a completely different wolf. Good thing River doesn't expect themself to make the best choices! (05/11/20)

With the recent introduction of Ash to the pack, River has become nervous and cagey around their own puppies. Midnight and Sootstreak frequently ask them about why he both looks and smells so like them, but they find an excuse to scurry off every time it comes up. What the pups don't know can't hurt them, but by now they know too much to just let it go. (28/10/20)

After bearing a litter of pups with the Wildfire pack, River's hesitance and bitterness have turned into good-natured snarking and devotion to their packmates. While still quiet and introverted, the efforts of their packmates to care for both their pups and themself has kindled a level of trust in them that won't be easily broken. They know that not all of their pups will stay and walk in the scorched path of the Flame, but they're happy to let them go when the time comes as long as they can cherish them first. (20/10/20)

River is relatively quiet, but the few words they speak are sharp enough to sting and sour enough to turn ones' stomach. They're happiest when they're scouting alone, and the rest of the pack is happy to allow them that, but something more than food or protection brings them back at the end of the day. They're gentle with the pups, and seem to enjoy their company greatly, but are more closed off around the adults. A budding friendship with Cinder and a growing devotion to the Flame seems to be prompting them to open up, but only time will tell if they'll settle in fully.
