"Father left me...Father left us! Lead Wolf Sandor was right, the things he's said about father all my life...I used to think he was as sturdy as an oak tree, with roots planted with purpose and a towering frame that looked over our whole territory. Well, I'm older now...I know that isn't true...But why would he abandon us like this? Lead Wolf Sandor may have ordered him out, but he was given the option to prove his worth!...I know mother would have, in a heartbeat. Mother would have brought down a whole wild beast to please Sandor. And father didn't even try..."

"I have pups, I have pups! Mother is quite sore with me...But, Chafir and I are so happy!...Mauna, and Arina...They look so startlingly like mother and father, I believe it may even be a curse. I will keep them safe with everything that I've got; no fang nor claw will touch their soft pelts, nor illness their little muzzles. Chafir did so well...We may be young, but I believe she needed this...For seasons, I've watched her pine over every new pup the pack has birthed, and now she has her own to watch over. Sweet Moon...What a lovely time!"

She tells me that Mauna had been curious of her grandfather, Izzan...My mother must have been spinning more tails about him, during training sessions. That she-wolf...! I have every right to believe that she has left the Wastelanders territory, and gone off to who-knows-where in search of her grandfather...Mother reassures me that she is of the perfectly right age to be off on her own, in search of a new pack...Aye...I wish she had at least told us goodbye!"
