Many wolves find Coal charming for both his looks and his personality. His eyes burn like a mezmerizing flame. As pack leader, he's always willing to face a situation head on and won't make any pack member do a job he wouldn't do himself. He started his pack by meeting Ash, who wasn't easy to impress. But, after enough flattery and proving himself through action while avoiding bragging, Coal won Ash over. Together they named their pack Shadows of the Wood for their dark coats and the location of their territory.
Once he commanded a sizeable pack, Coal migrated them from the deciduous forest to the darker and more dangerous woods of the swamp. He established the leaders den at the base of a large and ancient tree, finding a comfortable hollow within its large twisting roots. The roots also made for good high ground to stand on when speaking to the pack as a whole.
In his old age, he relocated the pack again, this time to the mountains, wanting to make an easier life for his pack who were now either aged and frailer than they were, or young and inexperienced.
