Calibrate was a lonesome pup. He desired more: attention, food, playtime, friendship... He could not be bothered to try to learn from anyone only because this meant their time spent together would extend.

Until it didn't.

His mother, Tune, was at her wit's end. Could Cali behave at all? That hurt. Quick Claws also became impatient, not that he was great as a mentor in Cali's opinion. One by one, the older wolves flicked their tails at Calibrate. Soon, it became a clink of teeth.

He couldn't help it, really. The only one who seemed to understand was Ahdi, the short-tempered poet. Ahdi was difficult to convince to halt his howling over Silverpaw. At least he tired not of Cali's company. Theirs was a distant companionship for a time, as Ahdi was busy healing and hunting; whereas Calibrate was to learn stuff and not die.

Then, along came Tensi.

It never once occurred to Calibrate how much pain he might cause his friend, nor to those of the Collective at large. His comments were done and dusted the moment they left his maw. Ajur was a light in the darkness in this regard. His no-nonsense truth-spitting manner helped to calm Calibrate, who had been lost for quite some time after Ahdi passed. Between Ajur and Tensi, Cali became more affable.
