She joined the pack as a young dispersal and was selected by Hambone to be his heir--not because of any particular talent, but because she was like a daughter to him. He taught her well and left his right paw Hercules to watch over her after his passing.
She is the third and final leader of Forest's Eyes, as she followed her generation's change in mindset versus the original established reasoning for the pack: namely, the watchfulness against humans encroaching in wolf territory. Although not fully accepting of them by any means, Rumour acknowledges that not all of them seem to have ill-will. This led to many older members of the pack leaving to continue Cloudsong's original mission, while she and other like-minded wolves joined with a neighboring pack in the outer perimeter that shared a similar vision. This new pack became known as Blue Cloud.
