moonbow

he cries tears of moonlight

he was found alone as a newborn pup in the dreamlands by the late king, asmodai . he and his queen lilith raised him as their own.

they named him moonbow, and taught him how to live life in the waking world. moonbow grew adjusted to it, but always longed for the dreamlands. his father forbid him from ever returning, as he was afraid he would lose his heir. moonbow grew resentful towards his father for this, and over how protective asmodai was of him in general. when asmodai passed, their relationship was strained. moonbow feels little guilt, as he was elated at his new found freedom. but, no matter how much he tries to ignore it, he feels a slight longing in his chest for his father.

when moonbow took over, he demolished the king queen dynamic. he would be regarded as lead, but equal among his packmates. queen lilith protested her son, but moonbow had decided. moonbow hates how he's disappointed his mother, but he knows he's making the right decision.

moonbow taught himself how to dreamwalk, being originally from the dreamlands he was a natural at it. and there is where he met his love, caels, a dreamborn cnitharian wolf.

this was moonbows' third time exploring the dreamlands. his paws pattered against the cold ground, and he grew immersed in the world around him.

the sky was a beautiful amalgamation of violets, fuchsias, and indigos with pale blue stars freckling it's expanse. moonbows' misty eyes could get lost in that sky for hours. he was mesmerized.

'it feels so good to be home' he thought to himself. his first night here, moonbow knew where he truly belonged. and every time he comes, he finds it harder to return to the waking world.

but he knew he had a duty, and he wouldn't abandon his pack.

moonbow stopped running when the grounds texture changed beneath his paws. he put his muzzle to the earth and took in its scent. salty. he took a few steps forward and perked his ears up, before he broke out into a smile.

it was the ocean! he whined with excitement as he tippy tapped over to the water. the water was so smooth and cold. he panted and splashed around, too overcome with excitement to notice the figure slowly approaching him from the water.

the creature watched moonbow curiously, it's sensitive tendrils twitching at every noise and movement moonbow made. the creature seemed moonbow to not be a threat, and decided to join him in on the excitement.

when moonbow made eye contact with the creature for the first time he jumped back startled. the creature let out a whine that made moonbows' ears flick. it was a wolf? the figure emerged completely out of the water, revealing itself to be a cnitharian wolf. a wolf species native to the dreamlands. moonbow play bowed, exited to meet a dreamlands born wolf like himself. the cnitharian wolf tilted his head curiously at moonbow, and let out a jarbled noise moonbow could only assume was cnitharian language.

moonbow huffed at the sound, a little confused at how to continue. he never considered the possible language barrier. the cnitharian wolf stared deeply into moonbows eyes, making moonbow's heart pitter patter in his chest.

the cnitharian wolf slowly inched closer to moonbow, the tendrils atop his head swaying contently. moonbow, curious at the appendages, leaned forward to try and nip at one.

the cnitharian wolf let out a gasp, and batted at moonbows muzzle. moonbow whined and lowered his head, giving the cnitharian wolf puppy eyes. the cnitharian wolf sighed, and sat down.

he gestured at himself with his paw, and spoke.

"caels".

moonbow understood he was stating his name. moonbow did the same,

"moonbow".

caels smiled lightly at moonbow, and licked his cheek. moonbows heart fluttered, and he exclaimed suddenly.

"come to the waking world with me!"

caels strained to understand, his forehead tendrils twitching rapidly. he furrowed his brow, before his face suddenly relaxed.

"okay"

moonbow grew delighted, and he and caels woke up together. the two haven't separated since, and they travel to the dreamlands together almost every night.
