The Story Of Sao

Aha! The Elk bull has been taken down, now for the final blow. As soon as Neptune lifts her head from the Elk's neck, she spots some rustling in the distance. As the rest of her party celebrates their victory, Neptune wanders off to see what's watching them.
"Go ahead and head back without me, I'll catch up in a bit." She calls out.
As she grows further from the party, the noise from the shrubs stops. She crouches down as not to startle the creature. She carefully peers inside the bushes to spot a small frightened wolf pup cowering down. His gaze is innocent and curious. The pup couldn't be older that 6 moons, barley an adol.
"Please don't hurt me, I promise I wasn't trying to steal the kill." The adol cries out.
"It's alright little one. Where is your pack?"
"I don't have one." He answers.
"Oh, well my name is Neptune, what is yours?"
"I-I don't have one." He repeats himself.
Neptune glances over him quickly to get a better read on why he's roaming around unclaimed. The small adol nervously looks around to try to find an escape. Neptune notices, and backs up a bit, relieving some pressure.
"Are you hungry?" She asks him. He looks up surprised and a bit confused. She waits for an answer.
"Uh, a-a bit." He stutters. Neptune turns and walks back towards her pack. The adol stands quietly and watches her walk away. She briefly stops and turns her head back towards him.
"Well, come along."
He scampers to catch up with her. Neptune leads the way as the young wolf follows closely.
"Did you ever have a pack?" She asks gently, without looking back at him.
"Once." He replies.
"What happened? Why are you out here all alone?"
The adol doesn't reply. He slows down his pace to increase distance from himself and Neptune.
"Don't want to talk about it?" She chuckles quietly. "I understand."
They walk in silence for a bit, but Neptune suddenly stops. The adol stops as well, keeping his distance.
"Alright, we are on the edge of my pack's territory." Neptune explains. "Now my alpha is quite understanding, but we'll need to introduce you with a name."
"I uh, don't have a name, like I said." The adol replies.
"Would you like one?"
"I mean, it would be nice." He mutters quietly.
"Would you like to give yourself a name?"
He stands quietly and looks around shyly.
"I don't know." He mumbles.
"Would you like me to give you one?" She smiles.
The adol nods
"Alright, you look like a Sao to me. How about Sao? If you don't like it, I can think of something else."
"No." He interrupts. "I like it."
Sao looks up to her and gives a soft smile. Neptune smiles gently back.

As Neptune and Sao walk into the territory, Sao keeps his head low, and watches his feet.
"You don't have to be nervous, everyone here is really nice. We are amazing at accepting and understanding new wolves. That is, if you'd want to stay with us." She playfully bumps his shoulder.
Sao doesn't respond.
"Ah Nebby!" An older wolf calls out to Neptune.
"Father!" Neptune calls back.
"And who is this youngin' with you?" He crouches his head down to look at Sao.
Sao looks at Neptune, wanting her to answer for himself.
Neptune smiles "This is Sao, I found him after a successful hunt."
"Well, hello Sao. I'm Starlit Moon, but everyone calls me Starlit." He smiles.
"Uhm hello." Sao quietly replies.
"Ah shy are we? No need, no one will hurt you here." Starlit coos.
Neptune let's out a small laugh, and looks at Sao.
"Well I better get back, Valley is waiting to go on our hunt." Starlit says, embracing Neptune in a chest to chest hug.
"Alright Father, tell Dad I say hello!" She calls to Starlit as he walks away.
"Of course darling." Starlit replies back.
Neptune and Sao watch's as Starlit walks back to his cave to reunite with Valley. His tail swishing the whole way.
"So that was your father?" Sao asked.
"Yes, My Father, and my Dad adopted me from the enclave when I was a pup."
Neptune turns around and heads towards the alpha's den. Sao lingers a bit longer and watches Starlit reunite with Valley. They embrace each other with a nuzzle and set off on their hunt.
"Sao, are you alright?"
"Uh- yeah, im fine." Sao turns to follow Neptune.
