Biography
Kuma was the first rogue to be accepted into the Whispers. He spent most of his life in a particularly blood-thirsty pack, one set on conquering neighbouring territories one by one. Eventually, age brought him widsom and compassion that his younger self was not privy to. He left the pack when he could stomach their cruelty no longer. The year he spent living as a rogue felt awfully long after that.
While the Whispers welcomed him warmly, Kuma joined them with reluctance, already fearing a repeat of what he'd seen before. Fortunately, he had not come to regret his decision to joint hem just yet. These wolves were entirely different from what he was used to and even those who had their disagreements treated him with more kindness and warmth than his old pack ever had. He found his place here as a hunter under Zima's command and in due time, could proudly boast of being her mate.
Alas, no pack is without its troubles. Permitting a recent arrival to look after the pups has robbed him of a son. The poor pup was not even a month old when a band of coyote reached him. It was the first time that the pack had to act against one of their own but the abandonment of a pup was too severe a crime to ignore. The pupsitter, Nana, was expelled from the pack for the unspeakable amount of grief she carelessly failed to prevent. The parents were devastated.
It was a difficult patch for everyone involved but nevertheless, things began improving. There were no more accidents, the pack's morale was growing with the seasons and so was the number of wolves among their ranks. It was a simple hunting accident that cost Zima her life. A careless misstep that had her trampled, yet a moment was enough for catastrophe to take root. Her death was swift, Kuma's suffering was not. Although he remained with the pack he'd come to see as an extension of his family, there was no denying that his family, his mate, was gone from this world. He grew more aggressive and bitter as the seasons passed, frustrated with the world and what it had stolen from him.
