"Shh you'll be okay, don't cry, puppy," Tore was comforting his sister who had hurt her paw. He called her puppy because that's what their father always called them when he was comforting them. His sister whined.
"Come on Ninni, I'll get you to pappa."

Pappa died, and that was fine even though they missed him. What wasn't fine, was when Tore and Ninni were older, their Mamma sat them down to tell them something serious;
"My pups, I have to leave this pack. But it's okay, I will come visit, and your aunt and uncle will take care of you."
Tore told her he loved her, and Ninni cried. Tore didn't tell Ninni, but he found out that their Mamma didn't actually want to leave, she was forced to by the alpha.

As a descendant of Gerd, Tore naturally had fondness and protectiveness over the members of Vårs family, but even he felt they had gone power hungry. As the youngest sibling, Vår had grown to try to prove herself useful by being stronger and more protective over the others, and her descendants had taken over the rule of this pack. First it was Borg, chosen by Gerd to be the alpha. Then Borg chose Magne, also from Vårs family. Not only that, but Arla was way too involved, and somehow Tore was the only one who saw it. She had the alpha wrapped around her paw, and Tore was sure she would want one of her own nieces, also from Vårs family, who she loved as she had no pups of her own, to be the next alpha. Magne was no different, he had gone senile and was talking gibberish about how his pups should be alpha.
