4th to join the pack, Anchorage (Anc) was immediately smitten with the twin cubs Juneau and Sitka bore (Kenai and Kiana), and shunned hunting in favour of pupsitting the polar opposite pups.
Wild and adventurous, Anc was adored by all the pups, although she seemed to get into just as much trouble as them...
Watching Kenai and Kiana growing up so fast, Anchorage felt a deep ache and emptiness growing inside, until she sought out Sitka. Yet the pair's moment of weakness led to deep rifts in the pack - breaking up Juneau and Sitka, and earning Anchorage a place firmly outside the pack.
After the pupknapping by Nanuq, relationships were beyond repair, and Anchorage struggled to come to terms with the loss of all but one of her puppies.
For years she and Sitka lived on the fringes, until she couldn't take anymore, and she set out in search of their last remaining pup - Adak - who had left the pack as a yearling. She felt the pull, deep inside, that something was horribly wrong, that he too was lost. Yet she never found out what happened to him, just like the pack would never truly know what happened to her when her body was found one early winter morning.
