Boar is independent and headstrong, a stoic exterior with a no-nonsense air about him. Which is all true, but he isn't just his surface-level traits! He's also loving and adoring of his late mate Undertow and their young, and has a deep respect and admiration for Cairhorn's efforts to do right by the Pack. Things were hard in the beginning, and at one point he considered leaving, but Boar is beyond grateful that he made the choice to stay even as things became difficult. It was the right choice in the end. And, by the Trees, he loved the life and family he'd built here.
