Mistkeeper's former mate, and the father of her first litter. Their mating was arranged when they were pups, with Pine being set to take over his family's pack when he was an adult. Despite Mist having a small crush on him at first, he never returned her feelings, but did view her as a friend. When Beechminder's coup was discovered, he stood aside as his uncles and cousins were to be put to death, not knowing that Mist and Sky had other plans. After the prisoners escaped, and Mist was banished, Pine couldn't take it any longer, and left, hoping to find his mate and unborn pups alive. He did, but whatever relationship he may have had with Mist was broken beyond repair, and the two split. However, Pine still wanted to be near his pups, and Mist allowed it. He served as a scout for a few months, before a bear caught him on the edge of the pack's territory, and killed him. He left behind his grieving cousin and pups, and a confused former mate who wasn't sure how she should feel.
