Moo was born to a she-wolf in the Emerald Stones pack, her father a travelling scout. Her birth coinsided with tragedy in the pack, the then alpha Douglas and his mate had lost a litter of pups and all packmates were struggling in a difficult winter. Moo was taken under the alpha's guidance, firstly as an adoptive father and later when she was chosen as the next alpha.

As a young wolf Moo fell in love with Night of No Stars, the son of Raven which Flies at Dawn and Adala a medicine wolf, both also close allies of the previous alpha. Similarly to her mentor, Moo and her mate struggled with infertility in their younger years but have now welcomed pups of their own.
