Kanikonna

𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐤𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐚

The doubloon-colored wolf was busy herding a group of puppies into the Nursing Tree, trying to shelter them from the relentless desert sun.

"Oh please Konna! Let us stay outside." A small brown pup pleaded. His yellow eyes shone pleadingly, and his soft floppy brown ears made him stand out from the rest of the wolf pups.

"No, Sandalio. It's not safe." The lead pupsitter scolded, nudging her little cousin towards the burrow. "If you stay outside too long, you'll get heatstroke."

Although she had only just been granted the title recently, she took her job very seriously. She had taken over after Dublin's passing, and although new to the leadership possition, she had been a pupsitter for a long while now; all the pups knew her, and she knew them. She loved them all as if they were her own, and wanted nothing more than to keep them safe.

Sandalio seemed satisfied with the answer, and scurried down the old tree stump's burrow. Kanikonna crawled in the narrow entry, although she had some trouble fitting her muscular frame through, she had done it enough times.

Though the entry was small, the burrow was huge. It was a large and spacious burrow, which Kanikonna and the other pupsitters had expanded themselves. Small caves branched out here and there, serving various purposes. Dens, classrooms, and even just playrooms.

Treading on the soft sand, Kanikonna made her way to the main playroom, where she immediately caught the attention of all the pups. Wagging their tails eagerly, they all tackled her playfully.

"Oh my little pups!" She giggled. "What would I do without you all?"

Kanikonna is the sole child of Hibiscus and Darshil, and was born to the pair in the rainforest. Kanikonna enjoyed her puphood, and often hung out with her Aunt Delja and Uncle Wilden, whenever she couldn't hang out with her mother. Kanikonna was incredibly dedicated to Hibiscus, and stuck by her side like glue. Her mother eventually gave Kanikonna the crown of her great-grandmother and pack founder, Camellia, which Kanikonna treasured dearly and promised to keep safe.

As a pup, Kanikonna was also good friends with Leota and Alaric, who were distantly coywolf. Kanikonna, being distantly wolfdog, got along well. Alaric seemed to have a crush on Kanikonna, but she was oblivious to it. Regardless, they all had fun together.

Kanikonna, truthfully, had no passion in life until she was an adolescent and met her new cousin, Kuparr. Often, Kanikonna was made to be his babysitter, and the doubloon-colored discovered that she had a knack for watching puppies, and had fun doing so. She eventually dedicated herself to becoming a pupsitter. Later on, she'd also babysit her much younger cousin, Sandalio.

As an adult, Kanikonna spent much of her life feeling lonely. Although she had pups that she cared for, who she adored dearly, she couldn't help but desire some of her own. Kanikonna was still unaware of Alaric's ever-growing feelings for her, and she confessed how alone she felt to her best friend, Leota. The liver-colored coywolf only laughed.

"What?" Kanikonna asked, feeling a bit stung at her friend's laughter.

"I'm sorry." Leota choked out, trying to contain her laughter. Shaking her head, she continued. "It's just, Alaric's had a huge crush on you since we were little."

Now aware of the wolf's feelings for her, she began to spend more time with him and realized she grew to have feelings for him as well. Kanikonna and Alaric were incredibly dedicated to one another, and spent much of their time together when they weren't busy.

After moving to the desert, the pair had a pup of their own, Echeveria. Kanikonna was overjoyed, and enamored by her new daughter. Alaric spent much of his time teaching Echeveria how to hunt, and Kanikonna taught her many lessons in basic wolf-life.

If not singing or watching over the pack's many pups, Kanikonna could be found cheering on Alaric as he hunted, or exploring with her daughter Echeveria.
