Biography
During the lesson: Leaves? Rocks? Underbrush? Twisted tree stump? Eroded slope? Katie learned to use any environment and its features to camouflage successfully.
During the lesson: Katie stalked the birds in silence. Focused and alert, she felt she was improving really fast and told Corey it was her favorite lesson.
During the lesson: Today, Corey convinced some ospreys to chase Katie out in the open plains. The real, physical threat of the talons really motivated little paws to do their best.
During the lesson: Katie chased her first serious prey today, surprised that rabbits can jump that far and that fast. Adults made it look so easy!
During the lesson: Katie failed to recognize a few subspecies of an important herb. Corey explained the differences again and showed how simply scratching the leaf can release a scent that is quite easy to distinguish.
During the lesson: Katie learned how to efficiently and quietly put paws in specific spots in every possible terrain, including water, without making a sound. Corey was impressed, and praised her for her success.
During the lesson: Katie had some problems with drawing a line between teamwork and playtime with her littermates. Corey was serious when they told them that bonding and working together were not the same thing.
