Akantha

The First Queen

As you pad through the tall stalks of grass through the large prairie land you found yourself in today you hear a cacophony of rustling and crunching grass a bit ahead of you- darting to a more open area to the left you whirl around and brace yourself just as a small silver and cream she-wolf bounds out of the grass and holds stance in front of you.
"Who are you? State you business here now." She growls tersely, tail raised and back ruffed.
"Now is that any way to talk to a potential ally Akantha?" you hear another wolf say as he emerges from the grass to stand at her side. She deflates slightly lowering her tail but still regarding you warily.
"Right. I am Akantha, this is Kinapak. You're in our territory so tell me explain yourself, please. Happy?" She gives the larger male a side eye before returning her gaze to you and waiting, albeit with a little more patience it seems...

History

Born to the leading pair of a pack far up north, Akantha was originally in line to lead the pack after her parents stepped down however her stand-offish personality lead to distrust amongst some of the pack members despite her best attempts and trying to prove her self through actions. Her parents decided it would be best if her far more charismatic younger brother took her place instead, and short after pressure from a bordering pack lead her parents to try and use her as a bargaining chip in a pair bond with another leads son. When they broke the news to her she was livid- a heated argument broke out that ended with Akantha fleeing pack in furious tears. As angry as she was she was more heartbroken that her parents would try and do that to her.

She traveled as far south-west as her body could take her, living off whatever scraps or small game she could manage to catch, wholly un0use to living a loners lifestyle. Eventually she came across Kinapak, a lone male who originally approached her with an attempt at wooing her but quickly figured out she was not interested in the slightest so he instead stuck a deal- form a pack together to claim land and prey for themselves and any other along the way that decided to join them. Nearly at the brink of what she could take she begrudging agreed and that's where we are today. The two have grown close over the years despite never becoming true mates and having pups they have formed a strong bond and complement each other well in leading the pack.

After her experience in her past pack Akantha became much more rash when it comes to trusting others, coming off a bit aggressive however Kinapak balances her out a bit and does his best to level out her thinking. Despite how things ended with her former pack she carries her beliefs from them. As she grows older she's grown far more stressed and worried for her pack's future, whether its warranted or not only time will tell.
