" There are many tales I lived to tell."
----------------------------
Name: Jet
Pack Anniversary: 14th January 2021
Gender: Male
Pronouns: He/him
Orientation: Straight
Role – Lead
Jet has been leading his pack for a long time, being one of the founders and the first ever Lead wolf. He loves his job greatly and puts much pride into it.
Relationships
Mate: Jet
Children: Fire, Charcoal, Ash
Adoptive Children: Coral
Best friend: Mud
Mud and Snow were the first two wolves to join Jet's pack. The two have always gotten along well together and Jet often asks Muds advice regarding issues the pack may face. In their free time, however, they like to nap together and/or gush about their pups.
History
Jet travelled for a while, he wanted to find the perfect land for his future pack. He began to feel lost, nowhere seemed suitable for a pack… That was until Jet had a strange dream… a wolf appeared to him, larger than life, who seemed to glow and shine, stars and clouds decorating their pelt. The large wolf didn't say a word, instead pointing a paw towards the highest part of the mountain.
When Jet woke up, he just knew the mountains were where he needed to go, there would be a home for him there. On this journey to the mountains was where he met his first packmates. Mud and Snow had been looking for a home to call their own. Jet told them of his journey to the mountain. The two agreed to join him on his adventure.
The mountains were beautiful and full of prey, and inside a dip in the mountain lay a large lake. The group set up base near the lake, collecting supplies and digging out a den. Jet was grateful for the dream wolf's guidance.
It wasn't long until the pack met their fourth member. Opal had been in search of a home for a long time. The three were more than happy to have another packmate, and asked Opal to join. The wolf accepted the invitation without a second thought. Jet found himself drawn to Opal, he had never seen a more beautiful wolf… Lucky for him, Opal seemed drawn to Jet herself.
The group quickly set into a routine, Mud and Jet would go patrol, while Opal and Snow would hunt. Within this comfort, the pack began to think of the future. Jet and Opal were thinking of having pups of their own soon, and knew Snow and Mud were thinking the same. One night, however, it was revealed that Mud was infertile. After a discussion, Jet and Opal offered up an alternative to the couple. Jet could help Snow get pregnant and then she and Mud could raise the pups. After discussing it well, the two agreed.
With Snow now pregnant and getting closer to her due date, Mud took up Snow's place in hunting with Opal, while Jet kept patrolling. Things certainly felt more stressful with pups on the way, the pack could do with more paws to help them out… Lucky for them, Dust showed up at their home a few days later. She had heard about a new pack in the mountains and wished to join. Jet and the others were more than happy for her to join.
Dust's arrival wasn't a moment too soon, as only a day later Silver and Speck were born. Snow was eager to get back to hunting and Mud was more than happy to look after the pups while she was gone, Jet noted how much he seemed to love watching them and offered him the job of pupsitter. Mud loved this idea. It did mean they needed a new scout… Conveniently, Dust had yet to find a role that suited her in the pack. Jet suggested she give scouting a try, turns out she was very good at it.
Bear was the next to join the small pack, wandering into base one day, looking a mess. He begged to join the pack and well… who was Jet to refuse? He trained as a hunter for a while until he came back one day talking about a bear he met. Jet wasn't too surprised by this, he had met Lillemor a few months back. This bear was different though, his name was Herbert, and he was a healer. Bear seemed amazed with Herbert's abilities. After a long conversation with his pack, it was decided that Bear would train underneath Herbert and become the pack's healer.
Cream was the last founder to join the pack. Dust returned with the wolf one day during a patrol, stating they were looking for a new home. Jet welcoming the wolf with open paws. However, Jet noticed Cream's anxiety within the pack. They admitted they had a very short attention span and feared they would be a hindrance. Jet didn't see this as an issue, working with the pack to customize tasks to work around Cream's difficulties. After several failed hunts, Cream ended up becoming a very skilled chaser.
With now a full pack to lead, anxiety began to set in. Silver and Speck were almost ready to be apprenticed and Jet and Opal were getting more serious about having pups of their own. But Jet just felt so lost… He had always wanted to lead a large pack of his own, but he felt himself faltering. He remembered the large wolf he dreamed of many months ago. How they had pointed to the mountains peak, Jet had never climbed that high.
Jet left Opal in charge as he began his journey. The trip was worth it for the view alone… looking out over the land, he felt as if he was flying. Strength seemed to flow through him, alongside determination, love, patience. Also, pain, suffering, grief. Feelings that many leaders before him had felt themselves. Jet was quick to head home, filled with a new determination. He told his pack what he had felt, how it had been like thousands of wolves before him had been right there, sending their strength to him. His pack was amazed, and with this the group chose the perfect name for themselves. They will from now and forever be known as The Pack of Souring Summit.
Silver and Speck grew fast, becoming adolescents in the blink of an eyes. Jet didn't need to ask them what roles they wished to train under, it was obvious. Silver made a great hunter and Speck a great scout. Around this time, Opal and Jet finally went through with their dream of having pups. They ended up having three boys, Jet could tell they would be a pawful. While Charcoal was a little angel, Ash and Fire were big troublemakers. Jet had to keep light on his paws to keep up with his boys.
Silver and Speck finished their apprenticeships the same day Jet's pups started their own. Jet wasn't surprised when Charcoal chose the role of a pupsitter, and Fire the role of a hunter. Ash did surprise him; he always assumed his son would follow Fire and become a hunter. Instead, Ash chose the life of a scout. Jet was glad his son had followed his heart.
During his sons' apprenticeships, Dust revealed that she and Cream were expecting. Jet was happy for them; he knew the two were close but had no idea they had chosen to become mates. Dust ended up having four pups. Two girls and two boys, the pack growing ever larger.
Dust came to Jet a few days after her pup's birth. She explained how she was getting older and traversing the territories was putting a strain on her. She suggested becoming a mentor for the pack, teaching pups' important life skills before they started their apprenticeships. Jet thought this was a genius idea.
Rose was the first adoptive pup to join The Pack of Souring Summit. Snow and Mud returned to base one day, admitting they had found a pup staying with Lillemor and couldn't bring themselves to leave them behind. Rose was a kind pup and seemed to have been staying with Lillemor for most of her short life. Jet loved having such excitable pups running around, Rose was a good fit for the pack indeed.
It was only a few days later that the pack would take in a new pup. A fellow pack was looking for a new home for a young wolf, unable to look after them. Jet and his pack had no trouble taking in Lapis, the pup saying goodbye to her parents. The pup slowly got accustomed to her new pack and the more she did the more Jet knew the pack had their work cut out for them. Turns out behind her timidness, Lapis was quite a prankster. At least they didn't need to worry about pack life getting boring with her around.
Time seemed to fly by, Lapis now old enough to become an apprentice. Jet could tell the wolf frankly didn't care what job she got, choosing the role of a chaser because the pack needed more. She was good at the job at least and seemed to get enjoyment out of it. She got enjoyment in being a part of Fire's team. The wolf had enjoyed annoying her fellow apprentice since she had first joined the pack. Ah, young love.
Jet's sons were getting older as well. Now practically adults and no longer apprentices of their respective roles. Fire had managed to mellow out with time like Jet had hoped, becoming an important part of his hunting team. Charcoal was a trusted pupsitter, even if he preferred to be alone when not on duty. Ash made an amazing scout and seemed to enjoy the job. Jet was so proud of all three of his pups.
Rose showed a strong interest in hunting from a young age. Once she was old enough, Jet allowed her to go out on a hunt with the pack. The young wolf thought it was amazing and decided to train as a hunter, a chaser more specifically.
Cream came back to base one day speaking of a wolf they met during their hunt. Their name was Wise, and they had shown an interest in Jet's pack. Intrigued by this Jet came to the next meeting. Jet introduced himself and offered her a place in the pack. Wise was excited by this idea, bidding farewell to her old pack and joining Jet's. Wise asked for the role of a pupsitter and Jet happily agreed. It certainly took Wise a long time to make friends with anyone other than Cream, but she got there in the end.
Lapis and Rose become full fledged hunters for the pack, now officially adults. Cream and Dust's pups were also now old enough to start their own apprenticeships. Sun chose the role of pupsitter, Swan and Sand chose the role of hunters, suitable jobs for all three pups. Caramel however… Caramel had always been quiet and distant; he didn't seem to know who he wanted to be. the end, Jet chose a role for him. Caramel would train as a hunter alongside his sisters.
While out on a stroll with his mate, Jet and Opal passed by Lillemor. Opal found herself instantly attached to an older pup living with the bear. Opal was getting older and had spoken to Jet a few times about wanting to raise just one more pup before she passed. Seeing the connection his mate and the pup shared, as well as the connection Jet felt for the pup himself. The pair decided to adopt them, giving them the name Coral.
Coral fit in well with the pack, becoming an apprentice around the same time Dust and Cream's pups finished their apprenticeships. Coral wanted to be a hunter like his big brother Fire, Jet found this very sweet. He knew his son would do great, he certainly had the determination and energy to be an amazing hunter. As for Dust and Cream's pups, Sun made an amazing pupsitter, being sweet and patient with the small pups. Swan and Sand were amazing hunters, Sand having a bit of an advantage.
Jet remembers the day Sand saved a strange, antlered rabbit from a strange beast… All the territories had been having reports of strange creatures and the mountains were no exception. When Sand had been rushed back to camp… injured and on the verge of death… only for the air around her to come alive, saving the wolf. Changing her pelt and enlarging her teeth in the process. Jet was amazed. Sand's new strength and speed was unmatched by the rest of the pack, and she made sure to use it during hunts.
Caramel was good at his job… but it was hard to tell if he liked it. He seemed to spend most of his time talking to ravens which was… unique. Caramel seemed happy enough at least? Maybe?
Becoming a grandpa was one of the best things to happen to Jet. Having two of his sons telling him their mates were expecting, Jet was thrilled. Fire and Lapis's pups were first to be born, a litter of three, two boys and a girl. About 2 weeks later Charcoal and Swan had a litter of two, one girl and one boy. Silver and Wise also had a litter around the same time, two pups, another boy and girl.
It wasn't long until one of the worst days of Jet's life. Opal admitting, she didn't have long left. The pack had never had a death before… they weren't sure what to do, how to prepare. Jet was crushed to know his mate was leaving him, he needed to make sure her passing was peaceful. He remembered how he had climbed the mountains summit… how he had felt so at peace. When Opal reached 7 years and 6th months, Jet instructed Bear to guide Opal to the mountains summit. Saying a tearful goodbye to his mate, Opal climbed the peak, being guided to the afterlife.
Coral reached adulthood shortly after, happy to be an official hunter. The pack's pups were about to become apprentices themselves. Fire and Lapis's pups were first, Obsidian and Cacao choosing the life of hunters. Steel chose the role of a healer, Steel liked to be alone, so it was a good job for him. Next were Charcoal and Swan's pups. Duck becoming a pupsitter and Ox a chaser. Finally, were Silver and Wise's pups, both Alder and Brass asking to be hunters.
Clay was a kind wolf; Jet remembers thinking that when he first met him. The wolf was a traveler who was looking to settle down. Jet offered him a home and Clay accepted, taking the role of a hunter.
Dust was the next to pass, making her way to the mountains summit and being guided to the afterlife by Opal. Dust's mate Cream takes on the role of mentor.
Having so many wolves becoming adults was certainly eventful. Steel turned out to be an amazing healer. Cacao, Obsidian, Alder, Brass, and Ox made to be amazing hunters, bringing back so much prey for the ever-growing pack, and Duck made for a sweet and surprisingly fierce pupsitter, adopting two strange Cnitharian wolf pups who didn't seem to age.
Another of Jet's pups, Coral, announced he and his mate Rose were expecting pups. They had three pups, one girl and two boys.
Jet remembers his strange dreams… It seemed once a month he dreamt of a strange lunar realm. He thought it was just weird dreams at first, but when Duck adopted two strange pups. Jet knew it was so much more than a dream. That's why when he met a strange wolf, with piercing eyes and flames dripping from his tail, who asked about Jet's pack in such a thoughtful way… well why shouldn't Jet ask them to join? When he woke up, he went out searching and ran into the wolf, he revealed his name to be Shore and happily joined the pack.
Shore wasted no time becoming a pupsitter or becoming mates with Jet's son Ash. Apparently the two had met each other before in the dream realm. Life truly was strange.
Bear was the next to pass, making his way to the mountains summit and being guided to the afterlife by Dust. Steel had been trained well and was more than ready to take over as the head healer.
Topaz is one of the latest wolves to join the pack. Jet had just been out patrolling when the wolf started following him around, chatting away. Topaz ended up following Jet all the way to base and just decided to join the pack, taking the role of pupsitter.
Coral and Rose's pups' apprenticeships weren't long after. All three chose the life of pupsitters, Jet was happy about this. Most wolves chose the role of hunters, but the pack needed more pupsitters and now they had them.
Clay and Sand had been mates for a while and were happy to have a litter of their own. Giving birth to four pups, all girls surprisingly.
It was only a few days apart that Coral and Rose's pups became adults, and Clay and Sand's pups became apprentices. Beam, Gleam and Taiga loved their jobs as pupsitters. Winterberry, Cloud and Orange all wished to be hunters. Patch however wanted to be a scout… the pack didn't need any new scouts, so Jet had to compromise. Patch could train as a scout but couldn't officially become one until speck retired or passed. In his spare time, Patch was to help the hunters.
Rust wandered into base one day to the entire packs shock. He wanted a pack to call his own and he heard The Pack of Souring Summit were always open to new wolves. Rust promised to help in any way he could and asked for a place in the pack. Jet couldn't see any reason to refuse, Rust becoming a pupsitter.
Winterberry, Cloud, Orange, and Patch all hit adult hood. Three of them enjoying the role of a hunter and doing it diligently, and one being a hunter on the side and spending the rest of his time training as a scout.
Cream was the next to pass, making their way to the mountain's summit and being guided to the afterlife by Dust. Mud decided to take on the role of Mentor.
Making it old enough to meet his great grandpups was a shock. Jet was getting older; he knew one of these pups would be the next leader. When Cacao and Topaz gave birth to two pups, a boy, and a girl. Jet knew he would have to watch them diligently to see who best fit the role of future leader.
Rust and Patch were proud to announce they had become mates and were very embarrassed when the pack asked when they planned to have pups.
Mud was the next to pass, making his way to the mountain's summit and being guided to the afterlife by Cream. His mate Snow decided to take on Mud's role as mentor.
Elk and Eagle continued to grow, jet watching them closely. Eagle was a skilled fighter and very decisive but… he was proud and frankly obnoxious. No one took him seriously. Elk on the other hand was clumsy and scatterbrained but also kind and had this aura around her that just made her easy to trust. Jet knew training Elk would be harder, but she would make the better leader in the long run. Jet was happy when Elk agreed to train as the pack's future leader. Luckily, Eagle didn't really care about being leader and was happy to train as a hunter.
Taiga and Winterberry had been getting a lot closer Jet noted. He wasn't shocked to hear they were courting.
Meeting badger was an adventure. The older pup had tried to attack Jet when the lead was out on patrol. Turns out the pup was running away. Jet took the wolf back to his pack, Badger asking Jet tons of questions all the way there. Badgers pack was glad to see the wolf safe… before he announced he had decided to join Jet's pack. Which shocked everyone, including Jet. In the end after a long discussion, Jet took Badger to his new home in The Pack of Souring Summit.
It took no time at all for Badger to become an apprentice, adamant he would be a scout despite the pack not needing a new one. Jet did not manage to get through to the wolf and caved… he would be a scout once the pack had room for one.
Snow recently passed, making her way to the mountains summit, and being guided to the afterlife by Mud. Her son Silver decided to take on her role as mentor. It wasn't long later that Elk and Eagle reached adulthood. Eagle made a great hunter, and while Elk still had a lot to learn, Jet knew she would become a leader the pack would be proud of. Finch and Aurora joined the pack soon after day. Aurora being adopted by Winterberry and Taiga while Finch came from a fellow pack. The pup had allergies and his pack thought the mountain air would do him good. Badger was the last wolf Jet would watch grow to adulthood, still determined to be a scout, but willing to help with hunting until a spot opened.
On the 8th year of his life, Steel and Elk accompanied Jet to the mountains summit. Once at the top, Jet passed on the role of lead to Elk. Looking at the endless sky, all of Jets long gone friends came to guide him to the afterlife.
