For several years Smolder lead his own pack. As a nomadic group they were constantly on the move from place to place anywhere the herds took them. One day when out on his own he caught the scent of something in the air and seen smoke billowing high in the sky, so much that it blocked out the sun. The alpha raced for his packs camp and before he was even near to reaching it he was met with a fierce wall of fire and the cries of wolves. For days he waited until the fire was no more and searched the place his pack was last at. Finding no traces of escape or hope.
He traveled for months on his own, no longer following the prey herds in his grief, before bumping into a small pack. Finding this as his chance at a place to call home again. - However he does find their culture and beliefs based around the burning sun and red markings to be odd. - He, now a brave, was allowed a hunting party of his own since he doesn't get along with the hunter noble, Radiance. Though he has often been trusted to scout areas. None-the-less Smolder was happy to be a part of something new to offer his keen skills towards.
Asked to return as a scout when the only one, Kuma, was expecting and needed in the mothers den he accepted. It felt far more natural to him to travel across the biomes and scout out new lands. One day while out in the coniferous forest he caught a familiar scent and followed the trail. It lead him to his son, Anders! Excited that he in fact hadn't lost his whole family, he brought his son back to the tribe where Smolder convinced them to allow Anders in.
After a while when he got ticks and had to go to their herbalist he came to realize just how old he was getting. He didn't necessarily feel old but he knew he was getting there. None-the-less he continued with his duties and is training the young wolf, Tamiko, to take his place as a tribe scout. As his final goal before stepping down from his position and retiring, Smolder completed his final scouting discovery in the swamp.
