History
Ash's and Fire's mischief only got worse as they got older. The two began to sneak off on their own, trying to catch prey and just being general nuisances. To try to contain the pup's energy, the pups were taught the ways of hunting, even being allowed to come watch a few hunts. Turns out… Hunting wasn't as interesting as Ash had first found it. Exploring the territory was much cooler, learning the land and keeping it safe? Exploring new territories? Ash couldn't think of anything better.
Once an adolescent, Ash decided to train as a scout. Fire wasn't too happy about this; his brother had always thought the two of them would be hunters together. Ash pretended it didn't hurt when Fire started to avoid him, choosing to focus on his job instead. Turns out scouting was just the job for Ash, and his mentor Speck made good company.
Ash was a great scout, observant and eager to do his job. Sure, he still caused some conflict from time to time with other wolves, but he usually managed to charm his way out of a fight. Ash had never spent much time with Speck, but with the wolf now as his mentor the two grew rather close. Turns out they had a lot in common, including their sexuality, which Ash was happy about. It was nice to have another wolf to confide in that would understand. Once reaching adulthood, Ash was proud to finally be an official scout of the pack.
Ash was curious when his parents came home one day with a young pup. They said they had found the pup living with Lillemor and that his name was Coral. Ash wasn't sure how to feel, with spending so much time out scouting… and his issues with Fire. Ash didn't think he was ready for another sibling. None the less, he did his best to connect with his new brother. Turns out Coral was quite adventurous and found Ash's tales of the lands he had explored to be exciting.
When Ash found out his brothers were both having pups with their mates, well, Ash was happy for them! He hoped to get to know his future nieces and nephews, but with how distant he was with Fire… He didn't feel that would become a reality. Once the pups were born, Ash spent his free time with Charcoal and his little ones. He contemplated spending time with Fires pups, but he wasn't sure if his brother would approve. Ash remembered his and Fire's fight as clearly as day but honestly? He really didn't care anymore; he just wanted his brother back. He found himself rather shocked when Fire came to him, apologizing for the jerk he had been in their youth. Ash was quick to forgive him, much to Fires shock.
Their relationship wasn't perfect at first, but it slowly got better. Fire's pups were excited to spend time with their illusive uncle and Ash could tell Charcoal was happy to see his two brothers talking again. In the end, the two of them found a new normal. Perhaps not as close as they once were, but still closer than they had been in a long time.
It wasn't long after this that Ash's mother passed. Opal's death was the first in the packs lifetime and it hit everyone hard. With the help of Speck, Ash managed to work through his grief.
Ash had never been opposed to the idea of a mate, but he wanted to make sure he met the right wolf first. When he began to have weird dreams of a beautiful wolf, with piercing eyes and fire dripping from his tail? Ash thought he was going insane. That was until his father came home with the exact same wolf, introducing him as Shore. He was exactly the same... all the way down to the burning tail. Ash was thrown off when he discovered the flames let off a cool breeze, rather than a burning heat and didn't seem to spread at all.
Turns out Shore must have recognized him from the dreams. The wolf tried to explain to him something about dream walking and the lunar cycle… But most of it went over Ash's head. Ash had had feelings for the wolf long before he joined the pack. Turns out Shore felt the same. When Shore asked to be his mate? Ash was quite a mess as he accepted.
Ash is currently training a new wolf in the ways of scouting. He knows both he and Speck are getting old, and someone will need to fill their space. He has never trained a wolf before, but he has found it enjoyable.
Jet's death was hard for everyone, but it hit his pups the worst. Losing both his leader and his father was difficult, Ash leaned on his family and friends during this time. Grieving would be hard, but the days would get better.
On the 7th year and 6th month of his life, Ash made his way to the mountains summit. Steel, Fire and Charcoal keeping him company through most of the journey. Once at the top, looking out at the endless sky, Fire, Ash, and Charcoal were greeted by their parents, Opal and Jet, who gently guided them to the afterlife.
