History
Fire and Ash's mischief only got worse as they got older. The two began to sneak off on their own, trying to catch prey and just be general nuisances. To try to contain the pup's energy, the pups were taught the ways of hunting, even being allowed to come watch a few hunts. Fire thought this was amazing, the idea of chasing down prey… attacking such large animals, and being the provided of food for the pack? Fire couldn't think of anything better.
Once an adolescent, Fire began his training as a hunter. He knew there was no convincing Charcoal to join him as a hunter, his brother was dead set on the life of a pupsitter. At least he would still have Ash by his side! That was until Ash told him he was going to train as a scout. Fire didn't understand and felt betrayed. Ash liked hunting! Why would he want to be a lame scout? Fire began venting to Charcoal, while avoiding Ash all together. He wanted nothing to do with his traitor of a brother.
Fire was an unruly chaser, but he got the job done. Working as a team was not something that Fire was good at, preferring to do things his own way. Luckily, he began to realize quickly that the hunting teams needed to work together if they were to catch any prey. He didn't like being told what to do, but he supposed it was something he would need to get used to. Once reaching adulthood he had managed to become an important part of the hunting team, rather than a hindrance.
Fire was uncertain when his parents came home one day with a young pup. They said they had found the pup living with Lillemor and that his name was Coral. Fire was having enough issues with his current brothers as is, he didn't need another one. However, he found himself warming up to the young pup. Coral was sneaky and playful, a lot like Fire was when he was younger. The two ended up getting very close and Fire was excited when Coral told him he wanted to be a chaser when he grew up.
When on one hunting patrol, when the nearby lands were being taken over by bizarre creatures of myth and legend, Fire found himself saving one of these creatures. The hunting patrol had almost taken down the bizarre looking hare when Fire stopped them. Sure, they could have eaten it… but something about the hare seemed more intelligent than the ones they normally caught. In the end, they left it alone. Fire however did not expect the creature to begin constantly following him around… nothing he can really do about it he supposes.
As Fire got older, he began to dream of a family. First, he needed to meet the right wolf however, one that matched his awesomeness. He had never considered Lapis as a mate. She was mean, always pulling pranks on him and teasing him. Sure, he enjoyed the pranks, they were funny, and sure… Lapis seemed to understand him better than any wolf he had ever met, and yeah… She made him want to be a better wolf… But so, what? That means nothing… Fire was very annoyed when Charcoal decided to point out the fact that Fire liked Lapis as more than a friend. He couldn't hide from his feelings now that they had been so clearly pointed out to him.
It took Fire a while to admit his feelings to Lapis, but he got there in the end. Turns out Lapis liked him as well and was just waiting a bit longer to see if Fire would make the first move. Not much changed about their relationship after officially becoming mates, besides the talk of starting a family. The two were thrilled when Lapis managed to get pregnant. Fire's brother, Charcoal also announced he and his mate were expecting. Fire found himself a lot more excited than he thought he would be about the idea of his pups growing up beside his brothers.
Fire and Lapis ended up having a litter of three, two boys and a girl. Fire tried to ignore how much his smallest Steel looked like his brother Ash, or how that made his chest ache. He began to calm down as he raised the pups and spent a lot more time in base with his pups. It gave him time to think about his and Ash's relationship. He had been angry at his brother for so long, he barely even remembered why. He found himself missing his brother and in a leap of faith he went to apologize to Ash. Ash forgave him quickly, he was always too kind if you asked Fire, so quick to forgive.
Their relationship wasn't perfect at first, but it slowly got better. Fire's pups were excited to spend time with their illusive uncle and Fire could tell both Charcoal and Lapis were happy to see the two brothers talking again. In the end, the two of them found a new normal. Perhaps not as close as they once were, but still closer than they had been in a long time.
Sadly, things weren't all perfect. While both pups were still young, Fire's mother passed. Opal's death was the first in the packs lifetime and it hit everyone hard. Fire tried to hide his grief in his job, it didn't take his family long to see through this, however. With their help he managed to work through his grief in a much healthier way.
Fire's pups are grown now, two choosing the role of hunters and one that of an herbalist. His daughter has even had pups of her own. Fire still enjoys spending his time hunting, but he has mellowed out a lot since his puphood.
Jet's death was hard for everyone, but it hit his pups the worst. Losing both his leader and his father was difficult, he was just glad that he wasn't alone. The whole pack was grieving, and Fire found comfort in sharing this pain with his family. He would work through it in time, they all would.
On the 7th year and 6th month of his life, Fire made his way to the mountains summit. Steel, Ash and Charcoal keeping him company through most of the journey. Once at the top, looking out at the endless sky, Fire, Ash, and Charcoal were greeted by their parents, Opal and Jet, who gently guided them to the afterlife.
