It can not have been easy being plopped into Snow Hearts, and as part of an arranged betrothal. Dapple did not let her unfamiliar settings nor her situation get her down! At first, she knew Branch as an older brother. Only time would tell if this grew into adoration or resentment.

The journey was less about tracking than about keeping pace with Branch as he dealt with the return of Coigreach. She may not have been his equal in terms of overall power, but she knew him; there was no doubt. Afterward, the two were intimate as any bonded pair.

Ultimately, what kept Dapple free of the Faelcu influence was her duck companion. By that, it was reported the duck bit down on Dapple's scruff or honked close to her ear, all with the aim of continued survival. No one else knew quite how their mutual fondness for one another began. Between one sun cycle and the next, Dapple and the duck were not to be separated. Branch and the pack respected their wishes to the utmost.
