As soon as Iresine was born it was decided she would take over the pack once her mother passed on. As soon as she was old enough to walk she was put through extensive training to make her stronger.
However, one night Spirits came to her in a dream, telling her she had to stay and take care of the pack. That she could not lead as she cannot step down alive to remain with the pack. With this information she went to Mulberry and told her what had happened. At first, Mulberry thought she was making it up and was intimidated by the idea of leading and sent her away.
A few nights later, Lilly, the pack's herbalist, had the same omen brought to her in an almost identical dream. Once Mulberry had the proof that Iresine wasn't insane, she had to pick another heir. However with the pack's tradition to only pick those related to the pack's founder, it provided some difficulty as Mulberry was too old to bare more pups.
A few months passed and Iresine found herself expecting pups. Once she had those pups she noticed one picked up her bright red coat, white and black accents too. She showed the small pup to Mulberry and the pup was named and crowned Heir. Iresine still watches Cardinal grow and play, keeping an eye on everything as the day of new beginnings grows nearer.
But as Mulberry's day of passing grew nearer, Iresine had another litter, this time bearing a merled pup with peculiar eyes.. and it was a male. An odd selection in the history of the pack for a male to take over but Mulberry would see it no other way. She took his eyes as a sign from the spirits that he would be a strong leader, and so Moose was crowned the day after his birth, the spirits quickening his aging so he was strong enough to rule.
