Role – Mentor

While Rose loved the rush of chasing down large prey, her bones aren't as good as the used to be. Luckily, teaching pups all the things she has learned over the years is still exhilarating in its own way.

Charcoal had always been distant and quiet. Rose could tell he had a kind soul and was open to friends, just not very good at making them. Rose isn't sure when or how she managed to worm her way into the wolf's heart.


History

Rose was born in The Fauna pack to Dove and Nikolai, though she remembers very little of them, even the name they gave her. She was never sure why her mother gave her up to Lillemor. She knew the kind bear rehomed pups, but why did she need to be rehomed? She would never know.

She stayed with Lillemor for a bit, watching other pups getting adopted and hoping one day that would be her. That day did eventually come, a kind white wolf stumbled across Lillemor. Rose still remembers the moment she locked eyes with Snow, she felt such kindness in the wolf's eyes. She was so excited when Snow and Mud offered to adopt her, giving her a new name.

Her new pack was great, and she got two new brothers! Silver and Speck were great fun, Speck had so many tales about his amazing adventures and Silver taught her all about hunting! She found herself intrigued by the life of a hunter. When she reached adolescence, she got to go out on her first hunt, it was great fun.

Rose tried out all the different hunting roles, but eventually decided on being a chaser. Her training was enjoyable, and she was happy when she finally became a full-fledged hunter. Hunting was a nice job, being surrounded by packmates even when she had to work.

Like a lot of wolves, as she got older, she began to wonder about the future. Rose was quite the hopeless romantic and really wanted a mate and pups of her own one day. She found herself slowly drawn to Coral. He was a chaotic and adventurous wolf, but also funny and sweet and sincere. Rose wasn't subtle about her interest in Coral and was happy when he took the hint and asked her to be his mate.

The two of them ended up having a litter of three, two boys and a girl. Rose loved her pups so much; they were all so sweet and loved to help her when she got overworked. She frankly wasn't surprised when all three of them chose to become pupsitters… Hey babies loved caring for others.

Rose's father has recently passed, with her mother taking the role of pack mentor. Rose never knew her biological father well… Mud was her true Dad and it hurt to lose him. At least she didn't have to grieve along.

It wasn't long later that her mother passed as well, it was bound to happen at some point but… Rose remembers the day she first met her mother… for her to be gone… Rose knows the ache in her chest will stay for a long time. At least her older brother has taken on their mother's old job, Silver makes a great mentor.

Being the youngest certainly had its downsides, one of them being the fact that both of Rose's brothers died before her. Now having both her parents and brothers gone was almost too painful for her. Her family worked hard to keep Rose from falling apart, being there for her in any way they could.

When Lapis died, Rose chose to take on the role of the pack's mentor. It's not as thrilling as being a chaser, but teaching pups all the skills she has learned is still a fun and rewarding job. Watching the pups clumsily trying to follow her teachings is rather amusing as well.

On the 7th year and 6th month of her life, Rose made her way to the mountains summit. Steel keeping her company through most of the journey. Once at the top, looking out at the endless sky, Rose was greeted by her parents, Snow and Mud, who gently guided her to the afterlife.
