Strudel

Young Strudel sat upon a rock formation in the main Packs Cave, Admiring his bonded partner, Chickpea, converse with the young mothers and play with the pups, seemingly in her element, when Fenrirs voice startled him. "come take a walk with me, Young one." he stated, leaving no room for an argument turning his greying muzzle away from the Younger wolf, his bones seeming to crunch as he walked. "May I ask why?" Strudel asked hesitantly, he knew the Alpha was nearing retierment and was holding on for as long as possible and when Strudel found out through his bonded partner that he was a candidate for Alpha, he started to act out in hopes that the older wolf would see him as too immature. "I think you know, deep down, Strudel. why do you think i wanted to talk to you away from the rest of the pack?" Fenrir asked "To tell me that you are no longer considering me as a candidate for Alpha" He answered hopefully, a slight questioning tone in his words. "Quite the opposite. I wanted to tell you that you are going to take over when i retire in the coming weeks. I am getting too old to be chasing the pups and reminding the Apprentices of waht they need to be doing. so much needs overseeing and my bones cant take it for much longer." Fenrir explains a sad smile gracing his graying muzzle "I hated the thought of taking over the pack. Such a daunting task for younger me, but it grew on me. I wish to give you something i didnt have." he continues "what?" "training and time. I was announced Alpha the same day the old Alpha retiered leaving me with no training and not a clue what to do. luckily i had Clue by my side." "How am i supposed to be Alpha, I spend all day staring at chickpea or running after pups." "Have faith"

After weeks of training it was finally the dreaded day. Fenrir retiers and Strudel takes his place. "Maybe if we hide in the back he wont notice us and will think we ran off last night" Strudel rambles to Chickpea who chuckled slightly "Don't be silly, Love. youll do just fine. If Fenrir can do it, you can do it." "But what if i mess up, what if I end up like Enos or if I get the pack killed" Strudel ranted, chickpea cut him off quickly "I will be by your side the whole time now shush and lets go sit up front." Strudel hesitantly nodded and followed his Partner to the front of the huge crowed that had formed in the centre of the pack where a rock pile sat, wolves of all ages chattered and yipped excited to find out who their new leader would be but all chatter was cut off by a deep howl that demanded silence. "Now, as many of you know, today is my last day stood on this rock formation as your Alpha. Fear not as I will still be here as an acting confidant. Now for your new Alpha and his Queen, Strudel!" Fenrir announced, howls and yipps erupted through the crowd as Strudel stood with chickpea following closley "Now now, Settle down. For the last few weeks Strudel has trained as my apprentice and i want to say that i am proud of how far he has come from the small runt pup. He may be boisterous and silly at times but chickpea shall ground him." Fenrir calls turning to strudel "Now, are you ready young one?" He asked picking the wreath up, Strudel gulped before nodding, bowing slightly as he towered the elderly Alpha. Fenrir placed the Wreath on Strudels head and the Young one looked at him with big Blue eyes that begged for guidance. "Look to your left, She will be with you through thick and thin. Look out to the crowd, their the ones you have to think about when you make decisions. I'll be here for as long as i can be" Fenrir explained. Chickpea could see the hesitance in Strudels eyes and placed her head under his. "This, this is yours now, Love. Protect it." she said looking the crownd over with her Partner befor moving her head and nodding to Strudel. He understood what she meant and let out the loudest howl he could muster, Chickpea fenrir and Clue following closley behind along with the crowd of adults puppies and apprentices.
