Herbalist Apprentice Days

1日目冬バラ Fuyubara happily wanders off at your instruction to go and forage for some herbs, 銅 Akagane follows along closely and eager to learn. 秋桜 Akizakura had just died the day before, the greatest herbalist since the time of 雲々海 Momoka and 蛋白Tanbaku in 20年. Luckily 冬バラ Fuyubara had learned enough from 秋桜 Akizakura to be able to mentor 銅 Akagane in herbalism but 銅 Akagane worried she wouldn't make a good herbalist like her mothers, 雲々海 Momoka and 蛋白Tanbaku, before her...

銅 Akagane was quickly learning. 冬バラ Fuyubara had worked patiently and diligently with her, so that now 銅 Akagane began to feel confident that she maybe one day she may live up to her heritage...

3ヶ月後
The day 銅 Akagane finished her apprenticeship with 冬バラ Fuyubara, her mother メノウ Monou gave birth to her brother 橄欖石 Kanranseki, surprising everyone. 銅 Akagane was even more surprised however when 楓月 Kadzuki told her that she would not be taking the place of herbalist just yet and instead would be sent out scouting alone for a time until 楓月 Kadzuki saw that she knew the area well and could handle all the duties a herbalist was required.

She had trained for half a year as a herbalist with 冬バラ Fuyubara and was now a year old and so couldn't help thinking, 'Hadn't she learned enough?', but 銅 Akagane also wondered, 'sure, 冬バラ Fuyubara hadn't been the greatest but she wasn't the worst. Did 楓月 Kadzuki not trust 冬バラ Fuyubara to teach her properly? And what if she hadn't?! Maybe 楓月 Kadzuki just doesn't trust ME…' Shaking her head to clear it 'No…I'll become a great herbalist like my mothers before me and prove to my leader I can be trusted with the lives of the whole pack.' And with that she set herself to become a great herbalist, maybe even better than 海々雲 Momoka or 秋桜 Akizakura had been in there time...

Herbalist Days

It had been almost half a year since 銅 Akagane had finished her herbalist apprenticeship with 冬バラ Fuyubara, having explored the territory thoroughly, learning where every herb grew and continuing to help with treatments. Her heart had almost burst with joy when 楓月 Kadzuki and 冬バラ Fuyubara had called her over and told her the news.

"Oh yes, 楓月 Kadzuki, I think she's more then ready", 冬バラ Fuyubara said turning to their leader, her eyes shining with pride, "she's already surpassed me." Turning back to 銅 Akagane she added, "I'll be trying my paw at hunting but don't hesitate to ask me for help if you need." Nuzzling and licking the side of 銅 Akaganes face she trotted off to the hunters dens. Eager to get started in her new role, 銅 Akagane bowed her head to 楓月 Kadzuki and said, "I'd better get started then!" 楓月 Kadzuki bowed her head back smiling, "Our lives rest in your paws now, 銅 Akagane. I'm sure you'll do wonderful." 銅 Akagane knew then that her leader did trust her fully and truly, and she was well on her way to making her dream become a reality...

銅 Akagane was 2yrs old now, her mother メノウ Menou had died a couple months back alongside her brother ジャスパー Jasper. It was a peaceful time and they hadn't died of illness but simply old age. 銅 Akagane smiled warmly remembering her family, now it was just her and her younger brother 橄欖石 Kanranseki, and ジャスパー Jaspers pup, 青金石 Seikinseki. 橄欖石 Kanranseki had grown up so fast, already a year old he was bouncing up and down in front of 雀 Suzume, no doubt getting ready for his first real hunt. He had been so hurt when their mother died, barely having finished training and starting his hunting apprenticeship, he had hardly left his nest and anytime anyone saw him, he had his tail and nose dragging threw the dirt or otherwise howling balefully at the moon. 銅 Akagane was pleased to see him so joyful now, tail up high and an obvious excited tone in his bark.

銅 Akagane could she his greenish brown pelt and piercing azure eyes from across the camp, those eyes so much like their mothers and uncles. It was said that the first to have eyes like that was the wanderer 秋 Autumal, their great great grandfather and who gave them to 雲々海 Momoka, their great grandmother and the great herbalist. But 銅 Akagane now looked toward a different pair of azure eyes, toward 青金石 Seikinseki who, just like his mother 片目 Katame, had been named for those eyes. 片目 Katame or "One Eye" had two different colored eyes, one white and one black, making it look like she only had one in moonlight or at far distances.

片目 Katame was a fine hunter and the pack had accepted that she and ジャスパー had fallen in love, but not that they had a pup. 青金石 Seikinseki had not been ignored however, as it was custom to not allow any pup to feel unwanted or that they should not have been born. Instead the pack punished 片目 Katame with constant growls that were filled with loathing and distrust. Every so often 銅 Akagane would catch a few words from these growlings and worried that soon she'd have one less pack mate...

3ヶ月後
It had almost been about half a year now since her mothers death and 銅 Akagane was totally confident in her ability as a herbalist. She knew every herb and where to find it, and she had researched every medicine known to lupinkind and even invented some herself. But a broken heart was something that only time could help, the only thing to do was be there for the broken-hearted, to reassure and distract their minds from dark thoughts. When メノウ Menou and ジャスパー Jasper died, she had kept her paws busy, no doubt the reason why she was so proficient in her job now, but for 青金石 Seikinseki there was no such relief and maybe worse yet, since 片目 Katame had not died but left the pack, there had been no mourning ceremony.

銅 Akagane was 2yrs 5mos when her father 秋雲 Akigumo died.

At 5yrs 9mos, 銅 Akagane was finally pregnant with her first litter. She would give birth soon, in about 1/2 a month or so, and her heart pound with anticipation. Since she was the herbalist she would be relying on the other females in the pack that had given birth before to help her…
