Lichen 🌲

R.I.P Lichen - Second(?) herbalist of Istone Pack, mentor of Thistle.


Backstory:
Lichen didn't speak of his past to anyone, except perhaps his apprentice, Thistle. If he did tell the younger wolf anything about his past, Thistle doesn't show it. The only thing anyone knows is that Lichen came from "the south", and it seems from some of the things he's said that he was born in the distant rainforest. But nobody knows for sure.

As for his life in the pack, Lichen joined in the early summer the same year as Istone was initially formed. They had a herbalist at the time - Muddy - but she wanted to travel from pack to pack to pass on her knowledge, and she had stayed in Istone long enough. Lichen was already trained in herbalism, and so he took over the role without Muddy needing to train him.

Lichen was getting on in age, and when Istone took in a young pup who had been sold to them by another pack, Lichen saw the pup's potential as his apprentice and future herbalist. The puppy, named Thistle, also showed interest in becoming a herbalist and soon he began lessons with Lichen.

A few years after joining the pack, Lichen passed away peacefully in his sleep. Thistle had become an adult only a few weeks before, but he took on the role of herbalist, continuing Lichen's legacy.
