Biography
Jakob, a cognate of Jacob. In Hebrew, Jacob means "holder of the heel" or "supplanter". In the Bible, Jacob was born grasping the heel of his first born, twin brother, Esau. And by pretending to be his brother, Jacob received the birthright blessing from his father that his brother had promised him years earlier. His name was changed to Israel (Meaning "He wrestles with God" or "God contended") and is the ancestor of the Israelites.
