Whitefang was now the lead hunter, he has now one of the largest roles in the pack. The hunters being just as important as the alpha, without the hunters not even the alpha would be provided food. The hunters keep the packs elders, members, and pups alive, they are one of the largest pieces of the pack. Whitefang's mentor, friend, brother, Alderthorn, was lead hunter. Alderthorn was admired my many, especially Whitefang. They have been best friends since even before Asterwillow's pack. So with pain in his heart Whitefang accepted the title lead Hunter. He hadn't cried but everyone in the pack knew that it had taken a toll on him. But Whitefang knows he must go one to help this pack survive and thrive.
