Being the Jarl of an influential pack was not Screech's first wish in life, but it will likely be his last. Jarl Screech of Wounded Owl is Jarl Flight's mate, and although the pair can bicker and bark at each other, they stick together for the good of the pack. Jarl Screech has made a lot of mistakes in his life, mistakes he believes he should not be forgiven for.
Growing up, Screech had only one sibling: Ash of Raging Fire. The pair were born to a large pack and grew up rather coddled by love and protection, however, Screech and Ash grew up quite differently. While Ash grew up knowing the hardships of the world were at her paws, Screech grew up thinking he was in a bubble of protection. When both wolves had to leave the pack as dispersals, Screech was far worse off than his sister.
Ash and Screech have always had a tumultuous relationship. Ash believes Flight can do better - Screech doesn't want her to invade their privacy. While fight after fight with Ash rages on, Jarl Flight tends to ignore it and help her sister-in-law when she can - and ignore Screech's outbursts.
The turning point came when Jarl Screech and Jarl Flight struggled to have pups. They had Coal and Swoop, but... no other biological children. Jarl Flight turned to adopt wolves in need, wolves she knew would fit into the pack and help them. Jarl Screech loved these pups, but wanted pups of his own. He wanted a mate who could provide that.
Coal that Burns was the wolf that found him with another female on the outskirts of the territory. Screech was four years old, and Coal was two - seeing his father betraying their pack for the first time.
Jarl Screech and Jarl Flight grew distant after that. Jarl Flight keeps doing her job as a leader; serving her pack and making sure they are headed for greatness. Jarl Screech avoids his mate in shame and regret, hunting for the pack while simultaneously being ignored by his packmates.
