Biography
Elmheart's paws and heart ached, as he wandered further and further from the Thornheart Pack's territory.
When the Riparian wolves invaded, he had lost nearly everything. His mother. His father. His leader, and his home. But he was able to comfort himself with the knowledge that at least he still had his sister. But now, she was gone too.
Elmheart shook his head in disbelief. He still didn't know how it happened. They had fought before, of course, like all siblings do. But never, ever anything like this. After Reaper took over, it was like an earthquake, which shook the earth and divided his pack in two.
Some had chosen to go with Reaper, and follow him to the desert, where the dark wolf claimed they would find sanctuary. Even despite the suspicious manner in which the Thornheart deputy has claimed his leadership. Others had wanted to stay and fight, despite the fact that they knew it was hopeless. Still others, like him, wanted to search for other options.
Surely, there had to be another way. Between pointlessly fighting and dying over a patch of dirt, and running with a bunch of violent rogues and bandits out in the desert, under the orders of the wolf who had likely had been the one to orchestrate the entire attack in the first place. The very same wolf which had killed their father.
It went against everything Elmheart knew, and believed in. But he could not convince his sister to follow him. She just kept insisting that "she had a plan", and wouldn't even listen to a word he said. A small bubble of resentment rose up in his heart. Elmheart had always been the one to go along with his sister's plans, no matter how ridiculous they seemed.
When things went wrong, (as they often did) he wouldn't even say "I told you so". But never, not even now, when it mattered most -- would she put the same trust in him.
Elmheart wondered if he would ever see her again. But for now, he knew he had no time to turn back, and needed to at least find a place to stay the night.
Elmheart hesitated at the edge of the Ultima Thule territory, and shivered. He had heard rumors of this place, and how cold and ruthless their leader was. He didn't know if they would even be willing to hear him out, much less take him in.
But Elmheart had to try.
