Biography
Scout Captain Chimera
Chimera joined the Guilded Observer's not long after if was founded. He had lived in the Grasslands for nearly 5 years, and though he sired no pups or ever found a mate he was perfectly content where he was. However, he wanted to make himself of use to his new pack, and asked what kind of tasks he could take up.
Lord Eleazar took a great liking to his fur color, remarking how he once saw dogs with a similar appearance exploring the wilderness and soon pushed Chimera to become a scout. The idea terrified Chimera initially, he had never once left the Grasslands, but he pushed forward, knowing that this duty was his alone to carry until someone more suitable came along and replaced him.
Whilst on his reconnaissance missions, Chimera grew to love the dangerous and serene lands he visited, it was like he was a pup all over again, until eventually he could not bear to stay in the Grasslands for long periods of time. Because of this overwhelming enthusiasm and skill, Lord Eleazar did not see a need to replace Chimera, going as far as to give him the title of Captain and gifting him a wolf companion to help him scout, Scout Lieutenant Venice.
Chimera spent years exploring the vast world around him, but over time he realized that he was getting far too old to continue. Scouting no longer felt as exciting as it did the first time, and his joints grew weary of the weight they carried. After coming back from missions he would stop by the gnarled tree that the Herbalist, Herbert, resided in; seeking relief from the constant aches in his muscles.
Sunbeam, the Guilded Observer's first Herbalist, took pity on Chimera's poor condition and asked to be his mate so that he would not die alone. She, too, carried the heavy burden of old age, and understood what Chimera was going through as time went on. Chimera agreed, mostly out of pity for himself, but he found himself entranced by Sunbeam. He remembered that she originally scouted for Lord Eleazar as well, albeit for a very short time. After she got severely injured whilst exploring the mountains she retreated into becoming an Herbalist.
A part of Chimera wishes he could have properly met Sunbeam sooner, to have taken the time to truly understand the wolves in his pack, instead of running away at every chance he got. He holds a bit of resentment at Lord Eleazar for pushing him to be a scout, but deep down he knows that it was his own actions that caused his undoing.
Though he and Sunbeam agreed to not sire any pups because of their age, Chimera at last longed for the one thing many wolves do not get to be, a father. It was a hopeless situation, but one day Lord Eleazar brought several young pups into the pack, one of which Chimera immediately saw himself in, a young female pup with no distinguishing features other than her heterochromatic eyes.
Lachlan was her name, and she displayed an incredible amount of talent. Skills that almost rivaled Chimera's own. Chimera begged Lord Eleazar to make Lachlan into his successor instead of Venice, telling him that he would teach Lachlan as much as possible before he passed away.
Lord Eleazar was reluctant at first, hoping that Lachlan would become a hunter instead, but seeing Chimera's desperate eyes was enough to convince him, and thus he allowed it.
