Kahn

His first memory was their paws, clawless but strong, lifting him from the den. His family's scents, close, too fearful for rescue. Being forced to eat strange new food.

For a time he played with their pups. He liked them better than the dogs. They were difficult to understand, and when irritated bit hard. One day he bit back, and then there was the chain. He paced, collar cutting into the flesh of his growing neck.

Strange humans came and growled at his pack. They took him and put him in a bigger yard where was alone. They left carcasses for him and he learned to hunt small prey. There was a stinging insect bite, and he woke up somewhere new and yet from a memory. Hungry and uncomfortable in the open, he found his way to a tunnel made by the paws of the creatures who stole his puphood.

Nawth discovered Kahn while she was supposed to be watching a hunt. She saw past his awkward behavior and wanted to help him. Alpha Taak, knowing his days were few, gave his heir leadership practice and allowed her to choose the stranger's fate. She took the older wolf with her during training and they learned hunting together. The Alphas soon approved of their pairing.

Kahn is a loving mate but remains unsure of himself in social situations. He provides a calming influence when Alpha Nawth gets distracted and tries to do too much at once. He doesn't enjoy being called Alpha Male, remembering the dog's constant arguing and snapping over dominance. Fortunately Ghul wolves are fascinated by anyone who knows human ways. Kahn jokes about the collar he was given on the day of his freedom, saying it grants him mystical human powers.
