Biography
Icicle groaned as he thought of more things to say to Vulture. She was starting to get restless, glancing over his shoulder to sneak looks at the playing pups. He blocked her way every time and it wouldn't be long before she simply excused herself. She was trying to be polite to fit into the pack, but even she was getting fed up.
Where the hell is Dune?
He chattered away for a few more moments as the sun set lower in the sky. Vultures then gave a irritated growl,
"Sorry Icicle. I really need to check on my pups."
"Wait--!"
Icicle had pushed past him. He winced as she barked her pups names.
No response.
Then again, her barks growing more frantic. Soon the entire pack was helping her look for Moon and Wave.
Had something happened?
He felt a twinge of guilt. Dune had gone out because he'd told him the Pup's would make great HelpingPaws.
He shrunk back as Vulture stopped towards him,
"You know something! You've been distracting me all evening! Where are my pups?"
She demanded, behind her Sanity nudged her away,
"We'll find them Vulture."
She she-wolf glared at Icicle,
"He knows!"
She snarled, whipping around and rushing away.
Sanity looked after her for a moment before turning back to Icicle with narrowed eyes.
"Icicle. I have a feeling that what she says isn't all nonsense."
Icicle averted his gaze. His tail waving in a very submissive manner. This was humiliating..
Sanity stared him down for a moment more before he finally turned and left.
He sat, pretending to look around camp for the two youngsters. He knew they weren't here and the guilt was eating away at him.
A panicked cry filled the air, Icicle turned away from the lump of bracken he was nosing lazily to the entrance to the pack where Dune was yelping frantically. He rushed over to where the pack was beginning to crowd. His voice raised above the questions and snarls,
"Moon is dead! Help!"
He wailed, suddenly turning tail as streaking back into the forest. Sanity jerked his head in the direction he'd went and Shadow, Stork and Frog streaked after him. Vulture stood frozen, her fur bristling, she whipped her head around to Icicle fury burning in her eyes. Everyone knew Icicle and Dune, the two troublemakers of the pack. There was no way she didn't know he was in on this. Icicle scrambled back under the horrified gazes of the wolves that had stayed behind. Vulture stared at him, shaking her head in disbelief her wet eyes blinked rapidly as she turned to follow the rest of the wolves.
Breeze pulled her pups closer to her, her wide eyes solely focused on Icicle, murmurs reached his ears as he stared at the faces of his pack. He ducked into the hunter's den, unable to stand the looks he was receiving.
He collapsed to the ground squeezing his eyes shut.
He awoke to a harsh bite to his tail. Sanity's eyes glittered down in hostility. Behind him Dune looked horribly guilty, his right ear was notched and blood trickled down his face.
Sanity beckoned him out with a stiff flick of his tail. Icicle followed. The pack was already gathered under the moonlight. He couldn't make out any pelts besides Sol's. He was fidgeting with his bones, scrambling and shuffling them as he shook his head in dismay.
"These Wolves are responsible for the deaths of pups." Icicle flinched, pressing closer to Dune as Sanity's booming voice sounded out across the mountains.
Dune lowered his head in shame as the pack snarled at them, their glowing eyes narrowing in the horrible darkness.
"As punishment their names will carry their sins on into the Great Beyond,"
He sunk his teeth suddenly and violently into Icicle's shoulder. He let out a yelp,
"You will forever be known as Ghost That Haunts Us. Innocent pups were lost on your actions." He turned and did the same to Dune who only whimpered softly,
"You will forever be known as Fox Tearing At Flesh."
Dune whimpered louder as Sanity released him.
"These are the names you will carry through your lives and into the afterlives as signs of your betrayal. The Ansestors frown apon our pack for your actions and now we will all suffer for them. Sanity glowered at them, licking his jaws clean of their blood before turning his back on them. The pack followed leaving Fox and Ghost alone in the dark.
