Name: Melynddu (melin thie, "tawny")

Eos found her in early summer. Confused and frightened, Melynddu had been wandering alone for quite some time. Eos cautiously approached the young pup, attempting to coax her into a conversation. It didn't take long to realise that the young pup couldn't hear. Concerned for her well-being, Eos took her back to Pont-y-Rhedyn.
Melynddu was set down with the herbalists and checked over thoroughly. Though they couldn't get the information out of her, Eryr recognised her as a pup from a neighbouring pack in the woodlands. Eos took Melynddu and attempted to return her to her pack. Unfortunately she soon returned to the valley with Melynddu in tow once more. Whether she'd been abandoned or she'd wandered off on her own, it wasn't clear. What was clear, though, was that her home pack was unwilling to care for a deaf pup.
Eos returned her to the hebalists, hoping that they'd be able to find a remedy for her deafness. This was in vain, of course - and they quickly turned their attention to making accommodations for her. Pia, assisted by Melynddu and her daughter Gwynedd, created a rudimentary sign language. This quickly grew in complexity, and soon enough the three of them were able to hold fluent conversations. Alongside this, Pia started teaching Melynddu about herbalism, and the bright young pup was able to pick it up easily.
Melynddu was incredibly shy at first. It took a long time for her to build confidence. But things started to improve as the other pack members started learning the sign language and communicating with her. As she started to talk with them and play with the other pups, her high energy and enthusiasm really started to shine through.
Following Pia's death and Gwynedd's departure, Melynddu was left as the pack's only herbalist. Thankfully the pack remained small, so Melynddu was able to balance the workload alone. She proved to be quite a chatterbox as the years went by, eager to conspire and share gossip. She grew very close with the pack's other busybody Aniara, and the two eventually pairbonded and settled down in the herbalist's den. They raised several litters together, but none of their pups stayed with the pack.
*She wasn't given a name by her home pack. They never referred to her with one, at the very least. Eos gave her the name Melynddu.
