Biography
California Calica Carnation
California,Calica
Alpha
Notes for me:
California was Born in to the pack with much love by Calica Lily and Snow County. As the alpha, any female wolf who was born with white merle and hetero eyes to become alpha, was required to have Calica in the name. She was part of the last litter of the two, who she takes after much so. She never planned she would be leader as it looked like her sister from the previous litter would have the highest possibility to become the alpha. In fact, it was said she would be. Her sister was eventually deranked of 'Heir' status with no mention of why, and forced in to the hunter role. Probably because the pack needed yet another hunter to help supply food. Her sister was eventually given away to a known friendly pack/pack with benefits.
She has no idea on what goals to set for the pack, but she is working with what she can. She loves her 'subjects' and the majority also care for her. She also doesn't know if she wants to take a mate or not, but she does have her eyes on a few males,Brad,Halcyon, and Lorcan. She mainly just wants to focus on herself, and worry about her pack.
California had received the blue jay necklace on the day of her becoming alpha. The passing of the blue jay necklace had started at the very first alpha, and paw selected. 1-12-23 was a magnificent and sad day for her. She woke up in the family cave, her mother standing over her with the necklace dangling in her jaws. She was lead out the cave on to the rock ledge, towering above the pack. California was ran through the rules, and oath, then the necklace was placed upon her. The pack erupted in celebration for hours. Eventually, everyone would settle down. California went to rest with her family but awoke in the night.
She would alert everyone of her mother's now shallowing breaths, before she passed in the embrace of her one daughter and mate. Snow county died only a few days later, true love indeed. The pack held memorials for both alphas, before celebrating California one last time to try to put them in to better spirits of the new alpha.
Lorcan
We were two years old at the time, high up in the mountains. I was in the den with your Ma, for business with the Chaorainn pack when you came crashing in. The scent of prey overwhelmed the aroma of herbs for a moment, and there your mother stood surprised. After shaking your head at your mother's questioning, you smirked and asked who I was. I stupidly replied my name, before your mother bumped you away. "Stop your teasing!" She woofed, while you lolled your tongue at us and stretched your rippling frame. You then made a slow, but sneaky approach to my side. We then went back on the subject of business with you brining it up.
After our meeting, we each went our separate ways to gather herbs. An hour or so later, we all return at the same time, placing our bundles of herbs in to one big pile. After a moment's chatter, he asked me to stay. Before I could say yes, Sirona was shooing me away back to my pack. A day or so later, I had come across an import finding that I had to report. "Where is Sirona? I need to talk to Sirona!" Running past the surprised, sunbathing masculine, we run to the herbalist to report my findings. We come across Sirona and Quanny, in which we begin to listen to, setting himself beside me. After a few outbreaks of anger, the group settles and apologizes. At least, a member or two.
Quanny then leaves with Lorcan as a support to his den. I watch Lorcan leave, feeling a bit guilty from moments before. Sirona pulls me out of my feelings and thoughts, by nosing me. Suggesting she walks me to my pack, we walk in the heavily wooded areas, wisps glowing and dancing around us. The next day, pulling away from the little bit of warmth of my den, approaching the mountains, three figures are spotted. Lorcan,Quanny, and Sirona. Lorcan made his approach. "Good Morning California Calica Carnation." "Are you coming with us?" Sirona breaks in, voicing her concern. "Maybe she is right Lorcan, you should probably stay…I-" "It's not fair I have to stay here." Quanny piped in, telling Lorcan to respect his mother's wishes. Lorcan began to claw at the ground, it's not like anyone wanted me here anyway." "Lorc-" Me and Quanny both call out but Sirona stops us. I lower my head before we gather ourselves mentally and follow behind the alpha and elder. After an hour or so, we all return safely with Conall and Lowen. When returning, Lorcan greets us with mixed facial features.
He is overjoyed his father and brother have returned with his mother, but doesn't seem happy with me. After greeting his family I approach. "Lorcan. Can I pull you aside?" Lorcan with a spark of curiosity though still disappointment, nods and walks in front of me. I follow behind to a small wooded clearing. Lorcan sits down and I sit down in front of him. "Lorcan…I…I am stuck on words. I am trying to find them." "It's okay, think about them" She took a deep breath then sighed. "I didn't want you to go because…I care about you Lorcan. I was a bit afraid for you" Lorcan smiles and inches closer. "I care about you too California Carnation. That is part of why I wanted to go as well." "What's the other part of your reason?" She grinned. "To make sure everyone came back. But mainly you." He grinned back. She grins more before lowering her gaze. "Lorcan…" "Yes Calica?" "I like like you. Like really like like you." "I like you too California. Like, like you too." She had set her head under his, feeling the rising and falling of each other's chests. They sat in embrace for a time. "I must be getting home. The pack probably needs me to direct them on their duties." She chuckled. He smiled and both stood in sync. "Let me walk you home." She licked his cheek before nodding in agreement.
The two leaned their withers against each other and she was walked home. California and Lorcan went to sleep peacefully that night. The next day, California went to the edge of the mountains and howled. "Lorcan! Yes it's really me." She called and Lorcan poked his head around a boulder before bolting over. "What is it California?" He wagged his tail, seeming eager. "I thought about it and…" He tilted his head, his eyes squinching slightly. "I love you Lorcan…but the distance is to great." "Calica please…" "I don't want to do this to us. It is to far apart." "No…we can compromise." She shook her head. "I am not risking it. I am not risking you."
Anger filled him as his body flinched to move away, but he sighed and the two pressed their heads together. The two then turned away, looking back at each other before they kept moving on. Lorcan went to the river, once again disappointed and angry. California left with her head hung low and in a sorrowful state. Months had gone by and things seemed to start to pick up for the two. Then the match maker came along and they bumped in to each other "Lorcan!? Is that you?" Lorcan whipped around. "California! What are you doing here?" "Well, I am here to help out. Maybe get lucky." She nudged his shoulder and he smiled. The two chatted before she left to do a match making assignment. California and Lorcan were then paired together by Eranthis. They were then sent to the deciduous by Eranthis each with a gift for the other. The two wolves brought each other a flower. California brought Lorcan a Virginia Bluebell while Lorcan brought California a Flickering Flower.
The pair had set out in the lates of dusk, having the night to actually get to know each other. The air was a mixture, since autumn was near. Lorcan had lead Calica to the lake. "I should have thought of this." "Yes you should have." The two looked at each other with a grin before away with a quiet sigh. Calica and Lorcan would both move in closer to each other. "The night is so beautiful." "It is, but." "But what?" "Not near as beautiful as you." California would lower her head, embarrassed but appreciative of the compliment. "I never got to tell you how handsome you were yourself." Lorcan grinned and blushed a bit as well. Once night began to die, the two headed back to the main part of camp for the night. The next couple days repeated, just in different locations as they would explore them together.
The courting would have to come to an end, and it did. California hurried her assignments and rushed to find Lorcan before he could go on a last date that Eranthis had also set up. Lorcan would politely decline them upon California's appearance, California happy she got to him in time. "Lorcan, I am not letting you go. Not again. The first time I wasn't sure if I would see you again. This is our sign. We will work it out this time." "Calica, the other dates I have been on can never compare to the times we have together. I'm willing to do whatever it takes this time or be alone for the rest of my life." California was taken back by his words, but she quickly rushed up to him further and set her head in his chest/neck area. "I love you Lorcan." She said beaming up to him with her different colored eyes. Lorcan only gaped down with the same beam of love in his. "I love you too California Calica Carnation."
The two would linger for a couple of days before they would come to an agreement that they would meet in the Deciduous forest for their relationship to continue. Once the moon was high up over the rainforest after a discussion of how important it would be for California and Lorcan to be bonded here. The two would climb the waterfall together with the moon at it's point. Other wolves were howling to confirm their partnerships as well, but California and Lorcan began to howl and it soon went quiet for them. The two were now a pair. California agreed that whatever tradition he had to become mates would happen next, and she would travel to the mountains for it. But for now, they were a pair here.
The next day Lorcan had to leave, California was heart broken but it wouldn't be long for the couple. Upon her travel to the mountains, she had great news. She was expecting. Lorcan would be a father, and her a mother. Sirona would be a grandmother(again?) The two would then travel back to the rainforest where California would give birth within a few days.
The pup
California had given birth four days later to a singular female cub. She took after her father most. Though, they did not know what color eyes she had until opened. She would take after her mother's beautiful eyes. She would often be carried around to see her father before she had to train. She would be the next alpha if she didn't leave on her own. As much as California and Lorcan wanted another pup or so, their attempts failed. At the age of two, the daughter would leave for her own pack, getting the owl talon necklace as a reminder and visit both parents as much as possible.
