Steel enjoys the job of a healer. Being able to spend time alone collecting herbs and creating remedies is great, and being able to care and provide for his pack is nice as well… he supposes.

Best friend: Duck
Steel wasn't one for friends but Duck somehow managed to worm her way into his heart. She is one of the few wolves he can stand being around and he enjoys her company when out collecting herbs.

Mentor: Bear
It took Bear and Steel a while to find common ground, the two having vastly different personalities. In the end the two did manage to become good friends, Steel is grateful for all the Bear taught him.

Apprentice: Caribou
The optimistic nature of Caribou took the more cold and distant Steel a while to get used to. The two got there in the end and have become very unlikely friends. Steel knows Caribou will take care for the pack once he is gone.

History

Steel was born to Lapis and Fire alongside his littermates Cacao and Obsidian. Steel has always been distant; he is happy being alone and found himself annoyed by his packmates. He was aware of how different he was to his siblings, who were loud and confident. He didn't care for their rivalry, petty arguments, and bragging. The three siblings did care for each other truth be told, even if they spent most of their time fighting.

While Steel's siblings seemed to only ever talk about hunting, the young wolf found himself drawn to the life of a herbalist. Herbs and remedies seemed interesting and getting to go out patrolling for herbs all alone seemed lovely. And while Steel may often be annoyed by his packmates, he did care for them and knew the role of a herbalist would be the best way for him to provide for his pack.

Once an adolescent, Steel began his training as a herbalist, while his two siblings took on the role of hunters. Steel enjoyed the job and worked diligently. However, it took him a while to bond with his mentor, Bear. Steel was quiet and a judgmental wolf, and it was obvious to him that Bear had no idea how to reach out to him. They befriended each other in the end and Steel learnt so much from his time with Bear.

By the time Steel reached adulthood, he was on his way to becoming an amazing herbalist. Steel had a vast knowledge for herbs and remedies, and he had even gotten a little gentler and kinder when treating pack mates.

Steels first death was a hard one. It is a Healer's duty to guide elders to the mountain's summit, so that their spirits may be guided to the afterlife. His very own mentor, Bear, was his first loss. Loosing his mentor filled Steel with anxiety, he felt like he still had so much to learn and losing the wolf that knew him best… He still remembers the painful trek up the mountain, knowing it would be the last moment he would get to spend with his dear mentor.

Steel never saw what was so good about having a mate and pups. He liked being alone, learning new remedies and foraging for herbs. Having a mate and pups would only get in the way of that. Steel was just happy having his family and few friends. One of these friends was his assistant, Copper, who was an island fox. Steel had saved Copper and her pups from a cougar and the fox had stayed by his side ever since, helping him to collect herbs and doing small jobs.

Steel was cut deep when his mother passed, having to be the one to guide her to the mountain's summit. She had been such a strong and powerful wolf; she deserved so many more years. When he had to do the very same thing with his father not long after… well, it hurt just as much. He knew he would see them again one day, but it all stung non the less.

Steel has begun training an apprentice. He knows he is getting up in years and wouldn't feel right leaving the pack without a healer. Steel was honored when his great niece asked to be his successor. Caribou was a very chipper and optimistic wolf and Steel felt out of his depth with her. She was eager to learn though and truly cared for the job and that was what truly mattered in the end.

On the 7th year and 6th month of his life, Steel made his way to the mountains summit. Caribou, Obsidian and Cacao keeping him company through most of the journey. Steel enjoyed the company of his apprentice and knew she would take care of the pack once he was gone. Once at the top, looking out at the endless sky, Obsidian, Steel and Cacao were greeted by their parents, Fire and Lapis, who gently guided them to the afterlife.
