Cacao doesn't mind the job of mentor, even if she misses being a finisher. Her bones aren't what they used to be and sitting around training pups in much kinder to her body than hunting down prey all day.
Relationships
Mother: Lapis
Father: Fire
Littermates: Steel, Obsidian
Mate: Topaz
Children: Elk, Eagle
Best friend: Sand
Sand and Cacao are two very opinionated wolves. You would think this would mean they wouldn't get along well but somehow these two make amazing friends.
History
Cacao was furious when her brother got to begin his training earlier than her, just because he was bigger. This only encouraged her to try harder in the end, spending her days practicing by herself in base. By the time she was of adolescence, she was already a skilled hunter. She had always wanted to be a hunter, and with her brother taking on the same role, she was even more motivated to become one.
The two siblings quickly established a rivalry. While Cacao wasn't as big or naturally skilled as her brother, her bossy nature made her a good leader, her hunting team happy to listen to her ideas even from a young age. She did her best to bond with her team, knowing she couldn't beat her brother alone. All the while, having a silent chuckle as her brother continued to bicker and distance himself from the team. In the end, her brother realized the importance of hunting together after an elk gave him a nasty bruise on a solo hunting trip. Cacao enjoyed seeing her brother's pride being tarnished, and vowed to name one of her future pups after the elk that humbled him.
By the time Cacao reached adulthood, she had made a name for herself as a fierce finisher. Being trusted with such an important and dangerous job withing the hunting team filled her with pride. She hoped wolves of future generations would talk about her skills and bravery.
Cacao had never been sure about having a mate and pups, she worried having to care for other wolves would just get in the way of her legacy. The more she thought about it however, the more she realized that, perhaps, her pup's could be her legacy. She knew the pack leader Jet had been getting on in years and would soon be looking for an heir. Oh, how brilliant would it be if her very own pup became lead wolf. First, however, she needed to find a mate.
It didn't take long in the end to find a mate. Topaz had shown an interest in her since he first joined the pack. She asked him to be her mate and he eagerly agreed, being a blushing mess. Cacao didn't care about loving the wolf, he was just there to help her have pups and well, for appearances sake. However, she didn't complain when she found herself falling for the wolf and actually enjoying Topaz's company. The two ended up being a good match.
Cacao and Topaz had a litter of two not long after they got together, a boy and a girl. Cacao loved her pups right away and felt her chest swell at the idea that one of these pups could be leader one day. She continued to watch over her pups even after they were weaned, she wanted to ensure they made the pack proud.
Jet had watched over the two pups for most of their puphood, deciding who was best fit to become pack leader. In the end, Jet decided Elk should be his heir. Cacao beamed with pride when she heard the news, bragging to her packmates about how her pup would be the next lead.
Cacao's pups are all grown up now. Elk obviously became the pack leader, it took her a while to get used to the job, but she is now a greatly respected lead wolf. Eagle on the other paw, took on the role of a pack finisher and is skilled at the job. Cacao loves how successful her pups had become and is confident her legacy is now secure.
Cacao was sad when her mother passed, she had been such a respected wolf and the pack wouldn't be the same without her. She found herself crushed even further when her father passed not long after, she would miss them for as long as she lived.
When Shore passed, Cacao took on the role of mentor. She doesn't mind the job, she is older now and moving too much makes her bones ache. Being able to sit back and care for and train pups is much more favorable now days than going hunting.
On the 7th year and 6th month of her life, Cacao made her way to the mountains summit. Caribou, Steel and Obsidian keeping her company through most of the journey. Once at the top, looking out at the endless sky, Obsidian, Steel and Cacao were greeted by their parents, Fire and Lapis, who gently guided them to the afterlife.
