Áshildr arrived in the Nightgrove during a time of turmoil. Old king Hróarr was getting slower by the day, and neither of his beautiful daughters were well-liked by the pack. Humble, clever Áshildr proved to be excellent in a crisis and made a place for herself in the pack. Soon she began to support Hróarr in his leadership role as his new queen.

When Hróarr announced that Áshildr would be the next queen after his death, instead of Valdis or Thorunn, the two sisters attacked and nearly killed Áshildr, who still bears the scars of that conflict today. She was saved by her daughter and Saga, the sisters' aunt, who supported her brother's decision.
