Arborea has been in the Morrow's Peak Pack only a few months after its founding. She has seen leaders come and go, her previous love go missing, and her children die. All because of some mysterious force that returned her to life after her first death.
She was found in the coniferous forest by a few members of the Pack of Rabbits, and was helped by them to readjust to the land of the living. They graciously helped her find her way back to her pack, her family. She feels indebted to them, like they are her second family. She named her last born son after their first stud, Naisn, one of the wolves that helped her return to her pack, and gave his life to help keep them safe.
Arborea had lived a long, hard life. She was there for the power struggle that plagued the early days of the pack, and was there to see the ascension to power that Nessus had after the disappearance of her mother. The pack had always experienced turmoil, especially with so many wolves having connections to opposing deities. But they persevered, with Arborea and her children having no small part in that.
One night, she woke up in a dream not dissimilar to dreams she had had before. A blurry background of endless forests, and vague, but comforting, whispers. However, this time the whispers weren't so vague.
"Your time has come, your time to return to your namesake."
Arborea looked around, still unable to find the source of this whisper, "I'm... I'm dying?"
"Only in your mortal world. Your soul is moving on, to help us find the threats to our plane, the threats to every plane."
Arborea lets out a soft growl, her tone shifting from confusion to anger, "You've never even told me your name. I'm not ready to 'move on'. My family needs me here, needs me to protect them."
"We are your family, Arborea," the whispers split into two equally unidentifiable voices, one echoing slightly after the next, "We named you, helped raise you, made you into the warrior you are."
"Bullshit, I made me who I am. And just because you manipulated me as a child doesn't mean I consider you family. My children are my family. My pack is my family. I need to be here for them-"
"You need to be here for us!" The whispers grow louder, turning into a shout, "You have a role to play that's bigger than you could imagine-"
"Fuck you! And fuck your roles! I'm done playing into your games."
An audible gasp can be heard from the voices and they grow silent, the landscape changing into that of a rising sun with a deep red sky surrounding it.
"I can bring you back. Help you be there for your family," a large figure appears in the distance, one that's humanoid, and appears to be made of obsidian and gold. His voice seems smooth, charming even, despite the ominous appearance. "But first, we need to make a deal."
And make a deal they did.
