Biography
Leo'pup followed Wild'fang everywhere he went. He even tried to sneak off and watch them hunt. Leo'pup had watched once and had an amazed expression on his face. He wasn't interested in chasing prey like the other puppies were. He was interested in killing the prey. Leo'pup walked past the Herbalist den toward his siblings, near the nursery.
"Hey, guys! Dad's gonna go hunting soon. I'm going watch him. Do you want to come?" Leo'pup asked.
"I don't know about that.. Are you sure it's safe to go?" Little'pup asked, who was the runt and always careful. He is a red-brown furred wolf with white wings and glass eyes.
"I think it will be cool to see dad hunting!" Fire'pup shouted. She was always bold and loud. She is a brown furred wolf with lighter paws and moonlight eyes.
"Shhh! I don't want to get caught!" Leo'pup whispered at her. "Come on they are leaving."
All three pups slid out through a hole in the old exit which was blocked with brambles and shrubs. They followed the hunting party, Providers at a distance. Their father, Wild'fang led the Providers. Soon they stopped at a herd of horses, just outside a forest. The litter of puppies scampered under a few bushes in order to see what was happening.
"Move your fat butt! I can't see!" squealed Little'pup. Fire'pup moved out of his way and watched the party hunt.
"Look! Their about to kill it!" Leo'pup wagged his tail excitedly.
"Eww gross! How do you watch that?!" Little'pup gagged.
"It's not gross, it's cool!" Leo'pup objected. "Come on, let's go back before mom freaks out."
They agreed and turned around to head back. When they got out of the bushes, Leo'pup noticed two blue glowing eyes watching them. He froze and kept staring at the orbs of light.
"Leo'pup, are you ok?" Fire'pup asked before following his eyes. She froze. "Little'pup do you see that?"
"Uh-huh" He whispered back to him without moving.
The glowing blue eyes blinked and started to come closer.
"Run! Go to dad!" Leo'pup squeaked in fear.
All puppies ran under the bushes. The glowing eyes started to sprint toward them. The eyes soon became the body of a Quadtrict, letting out ear-splitting growls. The gray Quadtrict grabbed Fire'pup's tail before she got out the bushes on the other side.
"Ahhh! Help me!" She cried. Little'pup charged toward the Quadtrict and scratched its nose with all his might.
"Hurry!" Leo'pup howled.
All three puppies fled toward the horse carcass. Frost'claw noticed the litter of puppies running toward him. He called Night'howl and Wild'fang. They were shocked to see the puppies out of camp. When they were half way between them and the bushes, the Quadtrict leaped over the bushes with ease and pursued its prey.
"No!" Wild'fang yelped. "Night'howl get the others and Frost'claw help me!" Both wolves got into position. The Quadrict bit on Little'pup's tail. He wriggled and squealed in pain and terror.
"Help me dad!" Little'pup cried, reaching his paw for his father. Wild'fang and Frost'claw charged toward the giant Quadrict in an effort to make it stop attacking Little'pup.
Rip. Blood poured onto the ground. Wild'fang now enraged charged toward the Quadrict faster. It ate the ripped tail and swiftly wrapped it's jaw around Wild'fang's neck.
"Did you already forget your nightmare?" the Quadrict laugh hysterically before slamming Wild'fang to the ground.
Frost'claw headbutted the Quad in the neck. It let go of Wild'fang in an effort to bite Frost'claw. Wild'fang quickly got up and bit the gray Quadrict's ear, tearing it in half.
The Tall-legged Quadrict stopped and looked at Wild'fang as blood dripped into his eye. "You may have made me bleed, but you can't kill me."
The creature turned and fled toward the forest. Wild'fang turned and rushed to Little'pup, who was whimpering in pain.
"Little'pup, you're going to be okay." He picked up little'pup and instructed Frost'claw to get Fire'pup and Leo'pup.
Leo'pup listened obediently, shocked about what he saw. Night'howl rushed up to them with Grey'fur not far behind.
"Where is Marble'eye?" Frost'claw demanded.
Night'howl looked back, "She was right behind us."
Moments later, Marble'eye trotted to them. "Sorry, there was an intruder on our territory."
"Ok, let's go. Night'howl, Grey'fur, and Marble'eye pull the horse carcass home." Wild'fang instructed.
They arrived at camp as the sun began to sink in the distance. The pack trotted toward the party in shock. Leo'pup shrunk back, trying to hide from their faces. He tried to look at Little'pup, but all he could see was a single limp paw. Fear grip his chest. Did I get my little brother killed? Wild'fang hurried toward the herbalist without even looking at Glass'heart.
"Where are my other pups?!" She whined frantically.
"Their over here Glass'heart." Frost'claw nudged them toward her.
"What were you three thinking! Little'pup could die!" Glass'heart fussed, then softened and licked her puppies, "Oh, I am glad you two are alright."
"Momma, it's my fault. I asked them if they wanted to come watch dad hunt." Leo'pup cried.
"It's not all your fault, Leo'pup. They agreed to go with you. Come on, let's go put you to sleep." She sighed, pushing the puppies gently with her paw.
Glass'heart told them a lullaby about the great wolves of the sky. Sun, Moon, Storm, Yin, and Yang. It was an old puptale that a lot of packs forgot about. Only a few packs held on to the tradition because it gave them hope that they would go live in the sky with the wolves of the sky when they died. Leo'pup couldn't sleep with so much on his mind. If Little'pup dies, it will be my fault. Who was the strange wolf? Do wolves eat each other? Was that thing even a wolf? Thoughts ran through his mind like rabbits on a prairie. Leo'pup sat up and tiptoed to the exit of Glass'heart's den. The sun was rising. Wolves circled the entrance of camp and he noticed the prey was on the other side of camp. He knew what that meant, either a wolf died, a new wolf arrived, or the scouts returned. I hope it's just the scouts. He turned around and went back to sleep. What the little wolf didn't know was that Little'pup had died earlier that morning.
"How am I supposed to tell them?" Glass'heart sniffled miserably.
Frost'claw sighed, "Tell them he can no longer be with them. Plus it's only a matter of time before they notice he isn't in the herbalist den anymore. If their smart enough to figure it out, tell them the truth. He lost too much blood before we could do anything." He patted Glass'heart and walked away.
"Hey, guys! Dad's gonna go hunting soon. I'm going watch him. Do you want to come?" Leo'pup asked.
