Winter's Heir to the Shrub Steppe
Mate of Moon
Leader of Desert Pack
Mother of Smoke, Stem, Seed, Stoat, Minnow, Turtle, Cloud, Thunder, River, Mamba, Trout, Pike, Oak, Mint, Sky, Wasp, Web, Bat, Tame, and Fancy
Autumn: Year 26
There are three packs that make their home in the southern regions of the continent. In the Canyons is Desert Pack, led by Midnight. Next to the river in the narrow strip of land between the forest and the desert is Prairie Pack, led by Fern. The pack living in Lake Valley is Mountain Pack, led by Moss and Doe. Many moons ago these packs did not exist, and wolves over the age of five years will remember the time of Fierce Pack before the civil war. Siblings turned against each other, parents were separated from each other, lives were lost as the two groups fought against each other. Moss's father, Sharp, refused to take part in the fight and took his family and any other wolves that felt the same as he did farther from the conflict. He continued to practice herbalism and medicine until his son came of age, where he then took on the mantle of Seer. With more distance between these groups, it is becoming harder for the younger generations to see the other packs as anything but enemies. Their Alphas have only met once and the encounter ended poorly.
Desert Pack
Led by Midnight and her mate, Moon, this pack prospers with their large numbers and skilled hunters. The harsh environment makes the wolves stronger, and their Alpha ensures that things stay this way by having only the strongest pup from each litter born stay within the pack. Any other pups are sold to other packs or given to Lillemor for adoption.
Prairie Pack
Led by Fern and Angel, this pack is smaller and populated by far less experienced wolves. Their hunts are less successful, which forces them to follow the herds more diligently. The pup sitters are often left alone with the young pups for days while multiple hunting parties are out, and many accidents have occurred. Fern wants to grow her ranks but she feels she may need to resort to drastic measures.
Mountain Pack
This pack is led by a mated pair, Moss and Doe, with the other members being their children and their mates. Moss, being an herbalist, stays at the lake while his mate takes her hunting party out to fetch food and supplies. Moss is able to commune with the spirits of their ancestors and the ancestors of the other two packs. This has begun to reflect on his body and mind. He speaks in riddles, and can often be seen standing in the middle of the lake late at night. No wolf in Mountain Pack is forced to stay where they are born and they are encouraged to explore and make a life for themselves. If they choose to return, they are welcomed with happy howls and open nests.
