Aspen

Aspen is the founder of her pack, The Enduring. She once belonged to a pack far from here, in a land of trees she insists were taller than the largest pine, and larger around than a boulder. She loved her pack, and didn't want to leave her homeland, but she had no choice.
For years, the fire season had grown worse and worse in her old territory, where every summer they lost wolves and swaths of land to smoke and fire. The pups grew sickly, made weak by the smoke and ash-poisoned waters, but the leaders of her pack refused to admit that their land was no longer hospitable. Their numbers dwindled--not only from fire, but from encroaching humans that shot and poisoned them. Aspen begged the pack to leave, to move on to where it would be safer, but even as the pack shrank, they refused.
One summer, Aspen watched as the water dried up and the plants became little more than kindling. She knew, if a fire began, they wouldn't make it. She decided one night to leave, accepting that no matter what, her old pack was doomed. That night, as she walked across the boundary of their territory, she smelled smoke. When she turned her head, she saw her old pack's forest burning. The fire spread quickly, far faster than it ever had before, and Aspen herself had to run to escape the flames and billowing smoke. Her pack didn't survive. She did.
Far from her old home, Aspen vowed to lead her own pack. One that would survive, would be able to make it in this changing, harsh world. One that would endure it.

Aspen values her strength only so far as to protect her pack, and has a deep respect for her Herbalist and wiser members. She is entirely devoted to the welfare of the pack. Aspen wants to see her pack grow, and one day outlast her. All are welcome, if they are willing to grow and learn alongside her. She shows kindness to all, but threaten her pack and pay the price!
