Biography
I feel I could be something greater, but I'm only the beta, I'm unimportant. Well, not as important as Blue Heart, my Alpha. Blue Heart was my first mate, she was rather sarcastic though. Enough about her though, here's a bit about me.
My name is Silver Moon. I was roaming around the lands of this world when I came across a lone female. The two of us talked for a little while and I learned that her name was Blue Heart. I was only a tiny pup, maybe 4 or 5 months old. I took to her, she was nice enough. She was the same age as me so she easily befriended me. The two of us started hanging out. We were best friends by the time we were both 1 year old. That's when she told me that she had a pack and asked if I wanted to join.
"Of course, I'll join your pack! What is it called?" I said after a moment's hesitation.
Were there other wolves? Would they like me? I shook my head. No, no time for those thoughts, I liked Blue Heart and I would follow her no matter what happened.
"My pack is called the Starry Moon Howlers, and I'm the alpha," Blue Heart had replied.
My tail wagged as I began to think of the future I could have with her.
But… My dreams changed when I was 1 year and 6 months old. Blue Heart approached me and told me she no longer loved me. I was heartbroken, but I knew there was something I could try. I tried to win her back. I brought her lots of prey as I hunted diligently each and every day, trying my best to get Blue Heart back. But my efforts, as I soon learned, were useless. Blue Heart did not want me, or so it seemed.
I now live with the rest of the pack, hunting with the other hunters, sleeping with the other adults, and wishing every day that I could get Blue Heart back. I hope she'll love me again someday, but for now, I keep hunting for her and the pack. Maybe one day my eternal wish will come true. But until then, there's nothing I can do except keep being loyal to my pack until I die.
Then, one day, that wish did come true. She walked up to me, head low but tail wagging. "I'm sorry I denied you all these years. I was afraid."
"You, afraid?" I joked, but I could tell that she was being serious.
"Will you be my mate...forever?" she asked. My heart thumped in my chest and my tail started to wag uncontrollably. I didn't have to say a word. She knew my answer
Once I gained my composure, I looked across the blue and indigo skies. I walked, then ran, then walked once more. I did not see anyone for miles. Then, I started seeing little dens here and there. Then wolves. Then I started recognizing them. I said my greetings to all of the pups, who somehow remembered who I was, then made my rounds with the adults. Suddenly, Clover approached me with a mischievous gleam in his eye.
"What're you up to," I asked him playfully. He only grinned in reply.
"Figured out where you are yet?" he asked me. I shook my head, my fur ruffling in the gentle breeze.
"Will you tell me?" I asked him.
"Silver, you're in the Serene Daydream, where all the dead go." His emphasis on "all" confused me at first, and then I realized what he meant.
"Will you-"
"Of course, I will! Wait here," he said to me. I sat down, tail waving the grass along. Then, I saw his little ox blood nose sticking out through the legs, then I saw the rest of him. I sat there, waiting for him to recognize me. I watched him tear up, which made my eyes water.
"Dad?" he choked, it was barely above a whisper. I looked at him and nodded, smiling, but still crying. Then he was running towards me through the crowd, and I lowered myself, bracing for his pounce. He did, and I waited until he stopped his wiggling a bit before choking out,
"Hello, my son. I thought I'd never see you again. I remember Midnight waking us up in the morning saying that you were gone. I was so angry. I-" I broke down and glanced over at his protector, Midnight Olive, who was watching from afar. I watched her glance at Ox, and she dipped her head, showing that what I said was, unfortunately, true.
"Dad," Ox Ear said to me. I looked at him in the eyes, only something two males of equal rank could do. "Now is your chance to apologize," he finished. I knew he was right. I could feel my pride getting in the way. However, I knew what I needed to do. I had been putting this off for far too long. I nodded, and flickered my gaze between my son and Midnight, before getting up and walking over to her, my pride yelling at me at every paw step. I watched her gain a submissive composure as I came closer. I drew in a breath.
"I apologize for what I said to you when..when I found out about him," I apologized, glancing at my son, who gave Midnight a hopeful stare.
"It's alright, my beta. I should've kept a closer eye," she replied, not looking up from the ground. Ox walked over to her and put his paw on her own.
"It was my own curiosity, Olive. Don't blame yourself." She sighed and regained her confident composure. I nodded and smiled at her, and she did the same, and then I was left alone with Ox Ear I turned to him, my eyes wide as I came to a realization.
"Have you been watching over us? Your family, I mean," I asked him suddenly. He licked my nose and replied,
"Of course I have Dad, why wouldn't I? Y'all are my family. I answered every one of your howls. All of the family, Darmon, and Jeremiah included" I pulled him close to me, and I sighed, but it wasn't one of pure relief. Ox noticed this because he gently wiggled away and looked at me once more.
"You alright?" he asked me softly.
"Yes, I am. I'm just..."
"Missing mom?" he finished for me. I nodded.
"She's slowing down you know. I'm worried she won't be alpha much longer." I felt my face become creased with worry for my mate, who was alone, except for the kids.
"She won't," he said matter-of-factly. I looked at him as if he had just threatened me. He continued, "However, she won't be alone when she does go, that I know. I have chosen Darmon to be the next alpha. What do you think?" he asked me. I thought for a moment, then nodded in agreement as we watched the pack go about their duties. He's a good choice. Strong-willed, strong, yet kindhearted
"There are hunting grounds over yonder," he said to me suddenly, and my eyes immediately lit up.
"Do you- Can I-?" I stuttered, trying to find the words. He gently, playfully shoved me, grinning all the while.
"Yes, you may teach me to hunt, Silver Moon, my father, and beta." I grinned happily as I followed him to the grounds. Maybe things won't be so bad up here after all
