"The world is full of things that want to hurt you," Kullitja told the pup cradled on her front paws. She wasn't feeling well, and the lights which distracted her on the hunt made the world seem harsher than ever. "Some of them look like us. The worst ones are us. Stay alert."

No one knows what is wrong with Weir. Some say her mother's anxiety over a near murder she shouldn't have been able to remember. Others say it was Kullitja's death during her puphood. Witch Shasiek tries not to be nosy, but she has let it slip that some wolves could just be born with a tilt in their minds that twists how they see the world.

Weir is petite, but no challenge appears to deter her. She takes on multiple opponents even when the predictable result is a beating. Males who have put her in her place learn to shield their sensitive regions with a tucked tail when they hear her approach from behind.

As a pup she started fights during lessons. Half-Faelcu Verg joined in, after initially responding to his bullies by running away. Fond memories of her parents bought her some time and patience, but it couldn't last. Some of the elders pressured young Alpha Nawth to drive them away despite their age. In one of her first tests of leadership, Alpha Nawth announced she would give Weir company and space away from the pack, as long as she learned some restraint. She arranged a marriage with Verg and gave them their own cavern in Lioness' creepy cave.

Weir inherited her father's magically preserved muskrat chew toy. She is skilled dashing past a random wolf and swinging it with enough force to bruise a nose.
