Biography
Personality
Angel has a calm, friendly demeanor. She enjoys nothing more than a long nap in the sun, surrounded by butterflies and flowers. She can be vain, and will spend hours grooming or adding flowers to her fur. Some of the pack can find her difficult to get on with, but Vampire counts her as a dear friend.Maybe all this is why new pack members are so surprised when they see her return from a fight, transformed into a different wolf. Blood dripping from her bared teeth, and white fur stained pretty pink. She once chased a hostile wolf twice her size from Earthshine's territory, and he barely escaped with his life. There's a reason Vampire likes her so much.
She's similarly ruthless in hunts. It's near-impossible to distract her from a target when she's locked onto it. She used to hunt by Vampire's side, though she eventually switched teams. Despite not hunting together anymore, they regularly go on long walks.
Backstory
Angel was one of the first wolves to join Earthshine. Vampire immediately asked her to accompany her on a hunt. Angel was slightly tentative, as she'd only just joined and felt she had no time to acclimate to her new surroundings. Still, Vampire insisted she pull her own weight. They needed to prepare for the inevitable expansion of the pack. The first few hunts were awkward and difficult, but all new things are. The tension eased after a while, but it wasn't until a late summer afternoon that their bond became unbreakable. The sun was setting, but the air was still warm. They'd set out on a hunt, and Angel had already locked onto the prey scent. Her heart was beating loudly in her chest, and her legs burned as she pushed herself forward. They were close, closer, closer... There. A large, fat deer. Her and vampire exchanged glances before charging in. They got in close to the legs, nipping at them whenever they could. The deer kicked wildly, and Angel had to duck under the legs to keep from getting injured. Vampire wasn't so lucky. The leg came in a brown flash. A hoof hit Vampire squarely in the side. Vampire whined and fell to the dust.
A hot flash of anger seared through Angel. She latched onto the deer's leg. She felt something snap under her mouth. She tried to pull the deer down, but there was only so much she could do. Then Vampire sprung back up and, despite her injury, sunk her teeth in. The deer kicked and struggled, but Vampire went for the neck. Soon, it was down.
They stood panting for a moment, until Vampire had to lay down again. She let out another whine, but tried to stifle it. Angel came to her side and nudged her with her nose.
"I'm fine," chuckled Vampire, but her voice was strained.
"Fine?" Angel laughed in disbelief. "Stay there."
"But—"
"I said, stay there."
Vampire bristled. "Who do you think is in command here?"
"The one who actually cares for your safety, thank you very much."
Vampire lay, stunned.
Angel disappeared into a shadier part of the woods for a while. She only came back when she had a mouthful of herbs.
"You're no herbalist," said Vampire, warily.
"I know, but I was close friends with the herbalist in my old pack. Trust me. I know what I'm doing."
Vampire hesitated, but she allowed Angel to chew up the herb mix and apply it to Vampire's side with a few gentle licks. Vampire whined, but the noise died out as her pain lessened.
"Thank you," muttered Vampire. She stood shakily, then helped Angel drag the prey back.
Angel insisted that she go to the herbalist for a proper remedy when they were home. In response, Vampire licked the side of Angel's snout. Angel laughed, quietly.
Angel came to think of them as the perfect pair after that. They often had long talks as Angel attempted to find a prey scent. Then silence fell as they locked onto the trail. They went in heads down with their legs pounding against the leaf litter. Then they latched onto the prey, ripping it to shreds still half-alive before dragging the fresh corpse back to Earthshine's territory.
Vampire had felt isolated for a long while before meeting Orion. But only having one friend in the entire world threw her loneliness into even sharper relief. Meeting Angel calmed that scarred part of her. Vampire, Orion, and Angel. They were a little family. But hunting was dangerous, and Vampire knew that it was inevitable that she'd lose her friend someday. She only hoped it wouldn't come too soon.
