Breeze 💨

Parent of many, loving mate of Wayfarer She and Healer Pollen, companion of Pathfinder Songbird, Pathfinder Breeze is a capable member and pillar of the pack. Without their entry into The Journey, the unnamed pack would have never formed as anything more substantial than a few dispersals chasing each other and an unknown goal. 

Much as they joked about being the only adult of the group - and then joked about how everyone ought to stop saying that when they’re mated to 2/3 of the original members - Breeze truly did bring life experience vital to their survival. Pollen and Songbird knew how to hunt small critters and how to live within a specific structure, but not how life works once separated from the close family of their birth packs. Wayfarer She knew the harshness of the world and how to survive in it alone - but not how wolves interact. She only ever scraped by on her own.

Breeze helped them survive and eventually build something resembling a functioning pack - though they certainly contributed the issue of the pack turning into a walking orphanage. They found Sparrow and Cloud as young pups, and welcomed Robin into the refuge as a young adult. Birth parent of many more and bibi to each of their mates’ children, Breeze will be remembered for as long as the pack’s memory stands.

Breeze never spoke about their past - it is known that they originated in the North, shown in their incredible knowledge in The Journey and their continued competence upon reaching The Destination. Beyond that their life history is a mystery - to all but Wayfinder She. They did not discuss it in depth, a short summary when the two were alone in camp, She responding in kind upon a scouting trip soon after reaching The Destination, but the two knew more about each others’ pasts than any other living wolf. Perhaps they found solace in shared trauma.

Upon having a final litter, Breeze retired from pathfinding to instead watch the pups - something they had always enjoyed though rarely indulged in once their son Fawn and adopted nephew Rusty took pup-raising as a calling. Their retirement lead to a massive shift in the pack’s roles. Pathfinder Songbird retired to finishing in the hunting party, allowing him to spend much more time with his mates and companion, Healer Pollen took over the role of nearby-pathfinder in part to connect with Breeze and in part to feel a greater connection once they leave them, and Hunter-Healer Lichen took over the herbalist position temporarily for her mother.

Breeze refuses to spend their last moments in camp - a traveler at heart, they say goodbye to their pups and travel with their mates and companion to the top of a nearby mountain. They pass on gently in their sleep, spirit forever dancing on the North-bound winds and watching over their unnamed pack.
