Biography
Chirp
Puphood
At first, Chirp didn't seem too different from her littermates, but soon enough the pack wolves realized she was deaf. Her future was uncertain, but everyone was determined to help her survive so she could have a chance at life.
Teaching her everything she would need to be a valuable member of the pack was challenging at first, since the pack members weren't sure of how to communicate with her. If it weren't for the triplets, Fisher, Rain, and Sunset, the adult wolves would have most likely given up on her. Since they had spent a lot of time in the nursery cave playing and getting to know each other, they had become somewhat fluent in "Chirpish". A combination of body language and sounds she made helped them learn what she wanted to but couldn't say.
Adolescence
As she got older, Chirp was eager to work, explore and help her pack. The leader made the decision to have one of the scouts, Wink, take her as an apprentice. He wasn't reluctant to do it, but his fiery personality made things hard for both him and Chirp. He often got frustrated and snapped at her, which diminished Chirp's enthusiasm for scouting and learning, and chipped away at her confidence. Feeling bad for making his pack mate upset, he started being more patient and teaching her in ways she could understand better.
Chirp proved to be very resourceful: although limited by her lack of hearing, she made good use of her other senses and surprised Wink with a talent for pathfinding. With time she also learned to not stray too far away from Wink, since it made him worried even if she could easily find her way back.
Wink got her an Elk Ear Accessory in hopes that she could some day hear.
"An extra pair of ears," he'd said, even though Chirp wouldn't understand him. "Maybe they'll help yours heal."
Adulthood
With time, everyone learned to communicate in an effective way with her. Chirp loves new puppies, because they don't struggle with it and they learn fast.
She is good at her job, although there have been some acidents here and there, and she likes to help with whatever tasks whenever she can.
Her howls, which everyone used to worry about since they didn't sound right, are now an essential part of group howling. When she doesn't notice everyone's doing it, someone goes to tell her so she can always be a part of it.
